It is the maker's responsibality to prove her as Parvati. For Mouni initially there was some hesitation in accepting her as Sati. With Sonarika, they must have done proper audition before casting her as Parvati. I am sure they know what they are doing.
Unlike others, I wish Sonarika well, and am willing to give her a chance. Just b'cos her last serial bombed (which was partly the fault of her CVs for giving her such a lame role) doesn't imply that this one has to. Sometimes, such challenging roles can extract the best out of an actress, and one can hope that that happens here as well. (Of course, that doesn't always happen, as those who've watched Priya Bhatija play Rukmini know only too well.)
The initial role of Parvati, which was a demure, somewhat sad girl would probably fit Sonarika pretty well, but once Parvati is married, she does have to play her aggressive roles, like arguing w/ the other goddesses over the parentage of Kartikeya, making a huge fuss about Shiva not respecting her privacy, and so on. When she invokes Durga and Kali to avenge Ganesh's beheading, that scene will have to match what Mahadev did in response to Sati's death.
Hope she doesn't disappoint.
