We are seeing it too narrowly- in that yuga years of life were determined by the person - and due to tap the asur was able to live long and do his misdeeds. At that time life span of a person used to be long. Some of them used to do penance for more then 300 years. If the boon is given now to Tarakasura, then atleast for 30 years minimum he must have ruled, troubled Devas. That much time period is sufficient for Sati's marriage. Parvati was born immidiately after Sati's death. When she was 15 years old she started her penance to get Shivji as her husband. Devas are not so week they would have fought & tolerated Tarakasura. When they failed compeletely then they tried to send Kamadev.
