Part 8

Her precious dreams were all broken now... the sun of her life had suddenly set leaving a gloomy darkness behind her... she suddenly felt all alone standing in the middle of a vast desert with not a single soul in sight... She had never thought that becoming the Yuvraani would one day demand her to sacrifice her love to her undeserving and spoilt sister... Yes she had to give in to the unanimous decision that was hovering above her head waiting for approval from the royal authority... Life could not have played such a torturous trick on her... she was all alone... she was no longer that cheery bubble that she had once been... now she was like that poor plant whose leaves droop down when not given enough water... and here the basis of her life was being taken away from her... her heart told her not to give the decision when she gave it but her mind was compelled to... At last Duty had won over Love... and Manyata was defeated...

Jaynandini was going to marry Yuvraaj UdayVeer Singh in the coming week... the atmosphere in the house had been solemn when Her Highness had announced her decision... She could not forget the look on Uday's face when she had pronounced her decision... he stood stone still and didn't react... just silently beared the punishment that his Princess had handed out to him... Unnati was angry... how could Manayata give up her Dada just like that... how could she let him marry Jay???

Maharani Komal wished to share her elder daughter's sadness but happiness of becoming a grandmother and a mother-in-law to the most desired son-in-law overpowered her motherly feelings... Such was the human nature...So selfish and unkind that it fails to comfort the ones in need during their suffering...Maharaaj Giriraaj and Maharaj Brijraaj were happy that atleast one of Mrinalini Devi's grandaughter's was getting married to Uday... Such horrible Hippocrates one might have rarely encountered...

VijayBhai and Unnati took the least initiatives for the wedding preparations... the only person who was really happy about the wedding apart from Manyata's own parents was her little sister Jaynandini... she had rung up all her friends from different countries and even the various states of the country to invite them for the wedding which was to be held in the following week... Her dream of marrying Uday was finally coming true... and she was very excited about it... so excites was she that she forgot her elder sister who's sacrifice J was enjoyin today...

Bout the Bridegroom in concern... the whole marrying J thing was just a farce for him... he stayed away from the Devgarh Palace as frequently as possible... he took to drinking heavily and often returned home badly drunk...and Manyata had to support him and take him to his room...

The decision had not been easy for her... That day she had gone to her room shut herself there and sat on the cold floor crying her heart out... she had been badly injured by fate the wounds of which would always remain raw... the scars even if they did come would be permanent... She had cried until every tear in her eye had dried up and all that came out of her mouth were painful heart rending wails... She was feeling as if she was being torn apart from all sides and very soon she would simply breathe her last... She was feeling suffocated... and out of breath... she had no desire to live at all... she wanted to die that instant... All her dreams had come crashing down and shattered into thousands and thousands of pieces... Her Uday was no longer her's he would be marrying Jay now... something that she could not accept in the many lives of her life...

On the day before Uday and Jay's wedding Uday came home drunk as usual and was staggerin when Manyata saw him and helped him upto his room... She had tears in her soft brown eyes... It ripped her apart to see him in the pain... for which she was responsible... why??? Why?? Why did she give that judgement what had she been thinking...???

Manyata why??? Why did u do this to me??? Uday asked her his voice deep and husky with the tears that he was holding back which was quite evident by the sound of his voice... She did not hold back her tears... and they flowed down her cheeks effortlessly... "I had no other option Uday... our family's reputation was at stake..." "No Manyata i will never forgive u for what u did!" Uday said sadly... She would never forgive herself... But today was the last night that she was spending with uday... bcz she would leave this palace forever tomorrow early in the morning... she wasn not going to stay for the wedding because if she did then she knew she would breakdown completely... "Manyata... our love is greater than this stupid marriage... i will never love anyone but u..." he said and Manyata nodded her head in agreement.. Uday pulled her close and their lips met... for one last time... before she bid farewell to him forever... His manly lips engulfed her soft submissive ones she felt him like she had never felt before one last time... she would cherish their last parting kiss forever..." Uday passed out soon after and Manyata layed his head down on the pillow and covered him with a blanket... she was about to leave but her dupatta had got stuck in uday's watch... so she wrenched it free carefully and kissed his forehead... Uday murmured in his sleep...'Manyata i will always love u..." A tear drop rolled down her eye as she wiped it she said..."Me too Uday..." and she burst out of the room trying to hold back the tears...

She ran to her room and shut the door... and slowly slid down to sit on the floor... she would leave form here...because staying here would only mean giving herself pain... and she would not be able to bear to see Uday with someone else...

She cried for some more time... then she got up to pack her things... she opened her cupboard and the first dress she saw was the yellow one which she had worn on her first coffee date with Uday... she picked that dress up and put it in her bag... then she saw the dress that Uday had given to her... her first dance with him in that green and pink anarkali... she took that too... and in this manner each and everything that she possessed had some memory or the other related to Uday...

Manyata zipped up her bag... took one last glance at her room and left the palace... the entire palace was unaware about their highnesses' departure... it was only discovered in the morning...

The entire household was abuzz and there was a lot of hustle bustle in the last minute preparations... The wedding was to take place today...

Vijay Bhai was not at all feeling good about the marriage... he and Unnati decided to talk to Manyata about her decision one last time... So they both went together to Manyata's room and knocked on the door...

NO RESPONSE...

They knocked again and called her name..."Manyata??

Still NO RESPONSE...

They knocked harder this time and said... "Manyata open up its me Unnati and Vijay Banna"

But still there was no response...

They were worried now... they tried the door and it was not locked... so it swung open easily... Vijay and Unnati looked at each other in confusion and then entered Manyata's room...

There was nobody in the room... and They were both wondering where Manyata was...

Unnati said..."Wait VijayBanna let me try her cell..." so Unnati rung Manyata but her phone was switched off... "God where is she... today is her last chance... she has to stop Dada's marriage with Jay..." "Vijay banna... r u listening to what i am sayin???" Unnati asked Vijay... But Vijay was not paying attention to what she was saying... because he seemed to be totally lost staring at a paper in his hand... Unnati noticed that and asked him what it was... But Vijay was too shocked to speak... so he silently handed her the letter...

Unnati took the letter from him and read it... she dropped down on the bed shocked... The letter was from Manyata... to Uday... and it said

Dear Uday,

I am sorry that i let u through so much pain in the past... I am a bad omen... I didn't mean to hurt u...but i guess i did and by my decision now too i have... i hope u will forgive me... i can;t bear to see u with someone else... so m leaving... i will always love u... All the best for ur new life...

Unnati started crying as soon as she finished reading the letter and Vijay comforted her..."Why Manyata.. why did u do this?? Please come back... Dada will die without u... please Manyata don't punish ur self and Dada like this... please Manyata please come back..."

Uday had heard everything because he had been standing at the door... He had come to take Manyata to the temple where they would marry so that this whole marrying Jay fiasco would end... But now he was shocked... Unnati saw Uday standing at the door and she ran into his arms crying her heart out... Uday comforted his little sister and Vijay looked on at the both of them sadly...

"Don't cry Choti... I am not letting Manyata go so easily" saying so he was about to leave ... when Unnati asked him.."Where are u going Dada??" "To find Manyata..." Uday said with steady voice... "But wht about the wedding...?" Vijay asked him... "To hell with the wedding... i will only marry Manyata and no one else..." he said and left the palace to look for his Princess...
