Girl - tooti chappal sey piteyga ya chappal tootney tak piteyga

Hindi does add that spunk to these otherwise lame jokes. And then there are certain culture specific things that only is desis get. Try telling the translated version to a phirang and rest assured the joke will be butchered.

Are you saying I'm not a desi? I was brought up in Delhi. What do you mean by that?

No no. It was not my intention at all. I was just making a point that these jokes have nostalgic value for some of us. Additionally, these jokes do seem funny only to people of our subcontinent. I am a sucker for these jokes and I like them very much.

oh totally!

i find the desi stand up comedians' so called jokes very unfunny and juvenile.. also the so called funny desi movies don't make me laugh...they are majorly cringe-worthy and give second hand embarrassment

a lot of jokes revolve around infidelity/marriage/weddings/love etc or mimicry of Bollywood actors..and a lot of times i don't know how they get away with blatant racism.. and the same joke gets rehashed over and over again, you can always guess what the punchline is once they start delivering their joke

oh and most of the non Indian born desi comedians are no better.. same old same old jokes about them growing up with stereotypical parents and their weird desi nature... *Yawn*
