Who do you think is a better actress?

I know their era had been over, or at least is in a break now, but I thought it is worth asking this. Who do you feel is a better actress? Comment in terms of looks, personality, types of roles they played, how (if at all) they were capable of fitting into the roles they played, and most importantly, their acting skill - the most important aspect of being an actor.

For me, it would be Rani, Rani and Rani. Loved her since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai time. Though she was not successful in establishing herself as a leading actress in Bollywood before 2002, I really enjoyed and appreciated her performance. I fell madly in love with her gorgeous looks in Hum Tum, and cried after seeing her performance in Black - the two films which made her what she is today. I also appreciated her performance in Chalte Chalte, Yuva, Veer-Zaara, Bunti aur Bubly and Laaga Chunari Main Daag.

Preity for me is an ordinary actress. The only place where she shocked me with her performance would be Veer-Zaara. While I did not like the film much, I won't deny her performance was brilliant. She had improved her acting skills a lot by this film, and was disappointed to see her not winning any award for it (a little happy to that Rani got it instead of her😉😆). The other films where I appreciated her performance and her rebellious and passionate character would be Dil Se, Kya Kahena and Salaam-Namaste. She failed to impress me in Kal Ho Na Ho. Despite the numerous awards she won, and the popularity she earned with that film, I never was impressed with her work there. Her acting seemed to be way too much artificial there.

So, for me, it would be Rani.👏

Well in terms of acting Rani is far better than Preity.But in terms of look Preity is far ahead than Rani.She is too cute.

I disagree with you Phoneix.Preity gave her best performance in Kal Ho Na Ho.She is the best choice for the role of Naina Kapoor.

Far, far, far...😆 Personally, I think they both have got different talents, in different fields. Rani is pretty too. However, she looks way too much pale at the first glance. She looks no different than the average Indian/Bengali girl - which she really is. But as soon as one starts watching her acting, people are bound to admire the inner beauty that she possess within the ordinary exterior, the charisma which drove hundreds and thousands of people to drool over her. She falls into the same category of her cousin, Kajol - ordinary and yet extraordinary.

Preity, on the other hand, looks gorgeous from the beginning. A single sight of her will make you 'Oh, wow!'. Rarely did I come across anyone who would say he finds Preity to be repulsive. The 'too cute' face, the million dollar smile, or most importantly, her dimples had attracted millions of fans worldwide. However, when it comes down to the acting department, she falls a step behind than many stars - something she improved dramatically in her later films, starting from Veer-Zaara, for which she received positive criticisms. She falls into the same category of Kareena (glamorous, possessing the talent of acting, something that would take time to come out).

What I like about both Rani and Preity would be the versatility of roles they played on screen, starting from ordinary, 'sidhi-sadhi' Indian Bahus, to rebellious, modern characters, to controversial ones like prostitutes, single mothers, rape victims, etc. Preity would be ahead of Rani in terms of the versatility of characters she played. However, recently, Rani too had played a lot of different forms of characters. This versatility among both the actresses is something that is seldomly seen among Bollywood-ers (though, it is changing these days). Even the most successful Bollywood stars used to play very typical and monotonous roles in the past.

Difference of opinion.😆 But in a way, you're correct. Even though I feel the role of Naina Kapoor (um, wasn't it Naina Catherine? Or have I started to loose my brain?) was poorly enacted by Preity (something she improved within a year), compared with the powerful performance that Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan gave, I cannot imagine anyone else at her place. Though Kareena was the first choice for this role, the thought of Kareena playing Naina is a bit...🤓 for me.

LOL Rani anyday....she is one hot bangali girl very attractive i guess she is the best ummm in terms of dimples it's Priety lol her colour and dimples inspire me only....she dance like a man lolz and she cann't act i loved in KHNH though....Rani is an awsome actress i love her movies they are worth watching...btw were you born when KKHH was released?😛😆

Nah, I was born just yesterday, you know. Grew up into an almost-seventeen years old boy by a day only.😛

...and on a serious note, you should really start keeping a calculator on your hands from now; might come in handy.😆 Just kidding, and I assume you were kidding, too.

Ajnu's Av is Preity, so obviously I pick Preity. But if Ajnu says Rani then its whatever my Rani says.

Rani, Rani, Rani - my all time favorite actress! Extremely beautiful, extremely brilliant, and extremely talented. I loved her in KKHH, Hum Tum, Bunty aur Babli, etc etc, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love her in Dil Bole Hadippa! 😃

Priety is cute, bubbly and charming, but I wouldn't call her a talented actress.

Oh boy. 😆 Actually, I think that Priety Zinta did a good job as Naina Catherine Kapur. The role suited her. I didn't like her in Salaam Namaste, she was extremely annoying. Arghh. And in Veer-Zaara, she was okay, she kinda overdid the role, I think. Rani Mukherjee totally stole the light in the latter half of the movie.

I have Preity Zinta in my AV because I'm told that I'm like Naina Kapur. I totally love the bitter expressions on her face, because they are similarly found on my face quite often. 😆 That's all.
