Actor Rajeev khandelwal on his foray into anchoring.
You have recently been signed as an anchor for a popular game show replacing Mandira Bedi. How big an achievement is this?
I don't see replacing Mandira as a big achievement but it's my flight from stagnating soap operas to an anchor on a reality show that is my trophy. This game show was having a makeover for which the entire style and look of the show had to be changed.
And to give it a new look they also sought to change the anchor. So for that I was called to audition and a few days later I was told that I had been shortlisted for the same.
Did you make any special preparations before taking on as anchor of a reality game show?
A reality show is definitely a bigger responsibility. With participants and audience sitting right in front of you, with whom you not only have to connect but also entertain is a big job.
For this I have worked and rehearsed well on my talking and presentation style. And since it's a Hindi game show with participants from all walks of life participating, I have really had to work on my Hindi by reading Hindi newspapers and books.
Were you not apprehensive about you career when you walked out of Ektaa Kapoor's serial?
No. I walked out of the serial because my character Sujal was supposed to slap my love interest which just did not convince me. For this I was even offered more pay, but I refused.
In another instance I was supposed to rape my love interest's younger sister which again seemed unjustifiable. I reasoned with the producers but to no avail. And when they didn't seem to give in, I quit. In any case I was a known face by then so I had no fears or apprehensions.
