Culture Based Dances

What do you all think about dances based on culture? Should there be more of that on the show? For example there's Bhangra for Punjabi or Raas (Garba & Dandiya) for Gujaratis? Do you guys think that more of these culturally based dances should be done on DID? And if they are done, they should be done by people who don't know much about it. For example a Punjabi shouldn't do Bhangra since they are most familiar with it. Last season we saw Khushboo (who knows the form of garba/dandiya) do a dance with Mayuresh.

Most of us thought that act was brilliant, especially by Mayuresh since Khushboo already knows the dance form well. So should more of this be shown on DID? What's your take?

i think contestants should do dances that are not from their native culture. because lets say a punjabi person does bhangra not only will that contestant do it better, but people that belong to that particular state have a dual reason to vote from regional pride, i.e. the contestant as well as the dance form. so yes cultural dance forms should be done in all its tradition, but from people that belong to different states.

Yes I agree with you & that's what I tried saying in my initial post. I guess the wording was a bit off! 😆

I feel the show would be alot better if there were theme based weeks. It would show their versitality, and let them explore some more western/regional dances.

A downside to that, though, may be that particular episodes may seem too boring and repetitive.

I like Indian cultural dances and sometimes folk dances too.. It shows the real India which is deep..
