It was heartbreaking to see Dean, Sam and Castiel getting shattered to pieces.I felt all the more bad for Castiel, I mean we have seen Dean and Sam in such a state before but this was a HUGE blow to Castiel.
Dean and Sam's pain wasn't less anyway, but Castiel's was overwhelming today.I believed and believed throughout and now his faith suffered a setback.

I felt for all of them and I don't blame Sam for not having any memories of his childhood/family.He was a kid back then and didn't really realize the seriousness of the crisis his family had been facing. All he wanted was a normal life, which at some time every Winchester wished for - John, Mary and even Dean.Given a chance he'd take it all back and set things right. It shows he does repent for things that have gone wrong because of him and he was hurt on seeing Dean hurt.
In the end when Castiel and Dean were too broken up, it was Sam who stood up to see that his family doesn't break down, it was him who tried to take control and flicker a light of hope.

Dean on other hand was too broken to make any sense out of Sam's memories. He in the spur of the moment forgot what might have gone through Sam in all those years, which is a natural outburst and I don't blame him either.
Famine had confirmed out Dean was already dead inside. His only hope as he said, 'Prayer, the last hope of a desperate man' came shattering down and this time he was too weak to hold up a 'I'm all cool and all fine' speech.
