NEW DELHI: Australian batsman Matthew Hayden now wants to sit down and talk things out with Harbhajan Singh.
Harbhajan was at the centre of several disputes with Australian players, particulary Hayden and Symonds, during the tour, where India won the tri-series finals 2-0.
"What I'd like is to have a chat to Harbhajan when we get to India. I want to sit down with him and see if there is any way we can move forward with our relationship because it hasn't been great. I'd like to see where he's at and see if we can patch up our differences," Hayden was quoted as saying on the website of an Australian newspaper.
About the 'obnoxious little weed' incident, Hayden said that he should have been careful while selecting his words. The Australian board had reprimanded Hayden after he called Harbhajan an 'obnoxious weed' during a radio interview.
"In 15 years of cricket, I had a slip. It wasn't to disgrace or denigrate Harbhajan. I could have gone for a different turn of phrase. In the end all I did was put fuel on a fire that already existed. It wasn't necessary. It was a mistake," Hayden told the newspaper.
Hayden, however, added that in terms of general human relations there was no ill-feeling between the two teams.
Hayden also said that he is still at the peak of his powers despite his age.
"I feel my drive, my passion, my knowledge of the game, my competitive instincts, they are almost unquenchable at this stage. I feel I'm hitting the ball as well as I ever have," he said.
