Piyush: "Can you help explain how that works (34.6)Umpire gave out caught behind. So for LBW the soft signal becomes not out? Then that would be for the edge, not for impact being in line or not." The third umpire confirmed with the on-field umpire what his decision was for lbw, which he relayed was not out, and hence umpire's call meant the not out decision stood.
Shubman Gill is the player of the match. Here's what he has to say: "Very special for me, my first fifty on the tour. I was hoping to get a big score for the team, a hundred, but that didn't happen but the result was on our side. It was a good pitch to bat on but got difficult to bat on after the ball got older."

Shubman Gill | Player of the Match: Very special for me, I was looking for a big score but unfortunately that didn't happen and I'm happy that we ended up on the winning side. It was a good (the pitch), initially the ball was coming on nicely and as the ball got older it became tough to hit. In the last game, I was set and looking for a big one and tried to accelerate, you gotta keep putting the pressure on the opposition as that's the the ODI game have evolved recently. I just try to do my best and not think too much about who's playing or not.
Ishan Kishan, the player of the series: "Actually not so happy with the finish I gave. These wickets that we played on, I was supposed to score big. That's what I was told by my senior players that I have to get big runs, that's what makes normal players good players. Next time I will try to get big runs. I thinks it's important to be consistent. You have to forget about the last game and start from zero, just look at the ball and play and take it one match at a time. [On batting with Gill] I think he's a tremendous player, the way he middles the ball. So to see how he is playing well from the non-striker's end, it gives me confidence as well. It's always important to win at this level. After getting 350 we were trying to get wickets from early and we were not taking it easy. These are the conversations between the team and everyone is looking very positive. I've played a few tournaments here and know how the wicket plays here, so not focussing too much on the next T20 World Cup. We have important series coming up. So we need to stay in the present."
Congrats Kishan🥳
WI captain, Shai Hope: "Hindsight is the best sight. Obviously we saw how the wicket was in the back end but I think we restricted them well enough. We can look back and change many things but it is what it is. I don't think we put enough balls in that 6-8m especially with the new ball. We didn't challenge them enough. But we're still human beings and India batted well. But I think 350 was a gettable target. You have to believe that you can win. They got 350, you have to believe we can too. Just trying to keep stressing on that attitude. We are not consistent enough with that attitude. Some days we wake up and play like the best team in the world and some days we just get steamrolled."
India captain, Hardik Pandya, with a big smile on his face: "If I'm being very honest, as a captain I look forward to these kind of games where some thing is on the line and not just an international game. We knew that if we failed, there was some disappointment. The way the boys came out and showed their character and at the same point of time they enjoyed it, that's something I want this team to have. In pressure situations, they have to absorb it but also enjoy it. Without pressure you can't be heroes. Obviously Virat and Rohit are very integral parts of the team. But this was very important for players like Rutu or Axar to get a game. So giving youngsters the exposure and making sure that if we want to check something, we can check that..."
Hardik Pandya | India captain: It’s a special win. To be honest, I look forward to these kind of games as a captain where there is something on the line. This was more than an international game. We knew what was at stake and there would be a lot of disappointment if we lost. The boys showed great character. They enjoyed it as well, in pressure situations it’s important to enjoy it as well. Virat and Rohit are integral parts of the team. But it was important to rest them so that people like Ruturaj Gaikwad could get a chance. It was about giving opportunities to youngsters. I took it deep intentionally, wanted to have some time out in the middle. Had a great chat with Virat before the game, he wanted me to spend some time out in the middle and get used to the 50-over format. Really thankful for him to share that experience with me. Once you hit one ball and get into rhythm things are very different. The ball was doing just a bit. Scoring 350 was always crucial. When you have a total like that, batters chase the ball and if the luck is one your side, batters will nick it. Couple of really good catches by Gill. West Indies woke up very late and there was that partnership that took it to the 34th over. The game was kind of over in the powerplay itself. This was one of the nicest grounds we have played. Things can be better when we come to West Indies next time. Things like travel, hopefully the West Indies cricket board can take note and ensure that there are no hiccups. We don’t ask for luxury but we need some basic necessities taken care of. [On Rohit's part in the series win] Rohit can have the full (trophy).
Hardik Pandya collects the trophy and it's been now handed over to Mukesh Kumar who holds it aloft alongside his mates. Now time to pose behind the champions hoarding. All smiles in the Indian camp. So, a comprehensive win for India to wrap up the ODI series and the focus now quickly shifts to the 5-match T20I series. It is a format the West Indies prefer the most you'd think. First game starts at the very same venue on Thursday. It's a relatively young squad for India with Hardik Pandya at the helm of affairs. The hosts, too, have a few exciting names up their sleeve. Do remember to join us for each of those games to catch all the fun. Until then, cheers and goodbye!!
