C space is decreasing .Tried deleting cookies? is it getting stored in c?

yes, i do clear my cookies once a week. i delete Prefetch, %Temp%, Temp, Recent, .tmp, .bak ... ... regularly. i do disk clean up whenever i find the spaces are decreasing. do my disk check monthly. defragment it... ... ..

i think, windows update is the main problem. the last time when i installed the update called service-pack3 of my XP, it took about a gygabyte of space

^^ the damage is done already; i have only 20% free space. but, what about staying updated! the firewalls & other programs must be updated, right!

i have uninstalled those prog. which i knw i won't be needed (didn't uninstalled those i'm not sure of) & i'm installing my current progs on the other drives.

there are four versions of Microsoft.Net (1.1, 2.0sp2, 3.0sp2,3.5sp1), & four versions of MSXML (three of them are three different versions of 4.0sp2 & the other is 6sp2) on my add or remove list.

what should i do now? should i uninstall the olders? is there any program which will solve my problem?😕

When i open an image on google, it automatically chnages to this site that start 'scanning' and informing me on viruses?

Norton blocked it just now finally

now when i go back to that softart.in scanning site it says the site is not avaiable, and might be an missepllin error.

Does this mean my PC is safe?

I'm surrently scanning with Malawarbytes, which i just downloaded

USB Modem problem

I have been facing problems with my DSL as it becomes very slow at times and it gets disconnected. I wanted a sort of back up as I work from home and am dependent on a reliable internet connection. One of my friends asked me to take a Tata Photon. I wasn't sure about it, so I borrowed a friend's photon USB stick and tried it on my computer.

The problem I am facing is that I don't see the signal coming on when I connect the USB modem. The same USB modem is showing a full-strength signal when my friend connects it to her laptop in the same location.

When I try to connect, it gives an error 692. From some research on the internet I found that there is a problem with the 'standard virtual modem' (COM3 port) installed on my computer. I don't know what is to be done. Unless this is solved, I cannot use any USB modem on my computer. Could someone please help me?
