The ten most popular Cambridge IGCSE subjects taken in the Asia Pacific region are:
Mathematics (Without Coursework)
First Language English
English as a Second Language
Physics
Literature (English)
Biology
Chemistry
Business Studies
Coordinated Sciences (Double Award)
Geography
Many schools will find these subjects form the core of their curriculum. What's more, CIE offers more than 60 subjects at IGCSE including around 30 in modern languages.
CIE reviews and updates its syllabuses regularly.
A new alternative IGCSE in Mathematics will be available shortly, for first examination in 2009.
Global Perspectives, an interdisciplinary IGCSE, is being trialled by 25 schools and will be available for first teaching in 2010.
Other new developments from Cambridge include Heritage Studies, featuring individual IGCSEs in Pakistan Studies and Bangladesh Studies, available for teaching already. India Studies is in development.
