Model-turned-actor Hrishikesh Pandey (Abhimanyu of CID-Special Bureau) has been on the telly circuit for a while, but has maintained a relatively low profile.
"That's because I keep away from the party circuit; so I don't make it to the so-called Page 3. It's better that my work speaks for me," he says. "But I have been extremely lucky that one assignment has led to another.
Whenever a show I am doing is folding up, there is always another one on offer."
On a break
As Abhimanyu in the Sony daily CID-Special Bureau, he is a commando of a task force. "The character of Abhimanyu is that of a serious guy; he talks less and believes more in action."
Pandey has taken a week's break from the shoot and will be back on the sets from January 2. "Shooting for CID takes a lot of time because of the action sequences involved; so we are shooting throughout the month."
Went for a Sixxerr!
Pandey was to feature in Manish Goswami's Sixxerr, slated for Star One, but decided to opt out "now that we don't know if and when it is happening. I am looking at another show, but prefer to talk about it when it happens."
Coming from a family with an army background, he says, "My hometown is Jabalapur, but right now, my family is posted in Darjeeling. I came to Mumbai with the acting ka keeda, and began work in a market research compnay. Later, I started doing commercials and music videos. Acting happened with Balaji's Koi Apna Sa, followed by Kahani Terri Merri."
Post these two Balaji shows, Hrishikesh went on to work with other production houses. "It's just that I did get offers but there was always something or the other, like dates, that did not work out."
At present, the actor is content being on the small screen, with an occasional commercial. "I am not looking at doing films at present; at least not for another year-and-a-half. I want to concentrate on television and work with different production houses and essay different characters."
