- Sign up alone. You will then be placed into pairs (2 people per team).
- Sign up as a pair if you like. Only one person from the group needs to sign up with the usernames of the 2 people in that pair.
Sign up is only open until December 6th 11:59 PM IST.
Now there are a few questions that we're sure are probably going through your mind. So here are some FAQs.
Q: How much time do I need to dedicate to this contest?
A: As much as you think is necessary to get you through the levels. The levels will increase in difficulty requiring more time so if you can't dedicate time then do not sign up.
SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE VIEWBIE: If you sign up and then decide that you don't want to take part, you will not be allowed to take part in any future contests for 1 year. And this is serious! There have been too many instances where people sign up, the teams are made, the game begins, and then people decide to leave. Enough is enough. This will not be tolerated anymore. It's not fair to your team and it's not fair to those who really want to play. I will look at exception cases separately, but most likely you will be banned from participating in contests for 1 year.
Q: Is the contest related to CID?
A: In every which way. This contest will cover the past, it will cover the present, it could even cover the future. But it will be related solely to CID. A working knowledge of CID is recommended for this game, but sometimes even the team you choose can be helpful.
Q: How long will this game run?
A: For at least all of December and half of January. It could continue into the end of January depending on how deadlines are set.
Q: What about during the holiday breaks?
A: The levels will be set in such a way that at least a break is allowed for the period of about December 24th to January 2nd. But be ready to play through this period if absolutely necessary.
Q: What if I sign-up alone and there are not enough people to make a round number of pairs?
A: All attempts will be made to make a round number of pairs. If that doesn't happen then we will make a group of 3 so that everyone can play. However, there is no advantage or disadvantage to this group size.
Q: How will the levels work?
A: Each level will have a certain threshold that the pairs have to reach. Anyone below that threshold will be eliminated and only the pairs that reach or surpass the threshold will continue on. That's why it's the Amazing Race.
Remember to read the Special Note written in Q1. As mentioned, dropping out will not be tolerated and you will be banned for a year from any future contests on the CID forum. So sign-up after thinking it through. If you know you won't have time, then do not sign-up.
