Note: Before proceeding, I'd like to heartily congratulate the entire CID team, both past and present, for the monumental achievement of completing 1000 episodes and making all of us proud. Much credit goes to the writers, director and especially our amazing actors for providing us with this memorable episode on this occasion and I'm appreciating it more after finishing with this update. I hope you all enjoy reading this and it helps clear any doubts. Long live CID!
Scene 1 - A Nondescript Locality
We see a tapori Pakhiya' - none other than our Abhijeet sir in disguise 😎 (totally fantastic performance by Aditya sir here 👏 👏 ⭐️) - pretending to bully some neighbourhood vendors for money.
Judging by the bystanders' reactions, he's been doing it for a while now. Rajat and Sachin drive up in the Scorpio and stop at a distance, alert and waiting for something. Eventually we see a robust fella leading a lady out of one of the houses. Seeing them, Rajat and Sachin dismount at once and demand them to surrender. The robust guy opens fire and there's a brief encounter until Pakhiya' joins the fray. He directs the guy and lady into a car and shoots Sachin in the shoulder 😲 (!) before himself getting into the car and driving away. Rajat fruitlessly tries to go after them, and wonders what they want.
Scene 2 - A House
Pakhiya' leads the lady and her bodyguard into his house and says that they're safe there. He meticulously tends to the lady's bleeding hand and curses the CID before scolding the bodyguard Chirag for being careless. They have a small argument before the lady says that Pakhiya' must meet her husband in gratitude for having saved her. Chirag receives a call from this boss,
updates him about the situation and says that Pakhiya' will have to accompany them to him. The latter remarks how fast the boss found out about everything, and agrees.
Scene 3 - A Dark House
The three of them enter a dark house where the boss greets them along with two other henchmen. He is introduced in a narcissistic and sycophantic manner as one Dilawar who's apparently feared by all criminal dregs. Pakhiya' greets him nervously (once again, brilliant performance 👏). Dilawar asks his wife if she's alright and punishes Chirag for bungling his job by mercilessly shooting him dead right there. He calmly announces that Pakhiya' will be Sonal's (the wife) bodyguard henceforth. Pakhiya' attempts to refuse and leave, but Dilawar holds him at gunpoint and says that he has no choice but to comply if he wishes to live.
**Three Days Earlier**
Scene 4 - A Bar
We go into flashback, three days earlier to a large bar where there's apparently a party of sorts. Abhijeet sir, Rajat and Sachin meet an informer Mangar (?) outside who mentions that three or four of Dilawar's henchmen are there inside. Abhijeet sir forks over his reward money and they enter the party. The henchmen are seen inside; they seem to recognize the cops and grow alert. Soon, weapons are drawn and a shootout begins. Rajat is injured in the battle. One of the crooks hurls a canister of gas at the cops, under cover of which they manage to escape. Abhijeet sir remarks that it was a set-up since the thugs knew about them and Dilawar was nowhere to be seen either. They proceed to take Rajat to the hospital.
Scene 5 - The CID Bureau
Rajat sir, fully recovered, enters the bureau and expresses regret for having failed to apprehend their quarry. ACP sir remarks that it was a perfect opportunity to capture Dilawar. Rajat marvels how his henchmen were bold enough to lie in wait for the CID and attack them. Daya sir wonders how they got to know about the CID coming there, since there were no signs of phone tapping or bugging found. Abhijeet sir says that their informer Mangar must have betrayed them, since he was the only other person who knew about their plan. ACP sir says that Dilawar had returned to the city after 5 years with a solid purpose for sure. He instructs them to force the truth out of Mangar.
Scene 6 - Mangar's House
Rajat, Sachin and Shreya breach Mangar's house to find him grievously injured with bullet wounds. They call for the ambulance and talk to Mangar; he says that he had not betrayed the CID but one of Dilawar's cronies had been spying on them and had already known about their impending raid. He gives the man's physical description and says that he managed to tear off a piece of his pocket with a paper while chasing him. He hands the same to Rajat before succumbing to death. Rajat proceeds to examine the paper he gave them.
Scene 7 - Various
ACP sir asks for the man described by Mangar to be sketched and apprehended at once. Sachin, Shreya and Rajat are seen showing the sketch to various people across the city. Eventually the scene switches to a cheap market area Makani basti' where we see the sketched man - Chirag - buying fish. Dhenchu spies on him and informs Daya sir about it. The latter tells him to keep an eye out until they get there. Dhenchu follows Chirag and sees him entering one room number 113 in the basti. Dhenchu updates Daya sir about this.
Scene 8 - The CID Bureau
ACP sir and the others are seen observing Chirag's schedule which is apparently from the paper given by Mangar - 9 AM to 2:30 PM and going swimming from 4 PM to 6 PM, every Monday to Saturday. ACP sir remarks how odd a schedule it is for a crook like him. Shreya suggests that it could be the schedule of Chirag's wife or child. ACP sir notes that the morning part could be the child's school timings, and swimming class in the evening after that. ACP sir says that they need to find out how many schools in the city have this timetable.
Scene 9 - Room no. 113 (outside)
Our duo meets Dhenchu, who points them at the room number 113 into which Chirag had entered. They wonder why a big-time criminal like him is staying with commoners in the basti. They decide to keep a firm but discreet watch on him in order to find out more about Dilawar's plan.
Scene 10 - Locality outside Room no. 113
We see Rajat disguised as a washing powder salesman in the area (brilliant performance by Vikas sir here 👏 👏 👍🏼). While loudly and enthusiastically advertising it to the crowd of customers, he also keeps an eye on room number 113. After doing a successful demo, he sells the powder to various customers and asks if anyone stays in that room. He's told that a guy named Chirag came there a week ago but rarely socializes with anyone there.
Scene 11 - Room no. 113
Purvi turns up outside the same room disguised as a fish-seller and greets Chirag, who refuses to buy anything and says there are no ladies in there. Purvi spots Sonal inside and points out his lie. Chirag irritably tells Sonal to not come out in the open; we see that Purvi has a hidden camera in her fish basket, recording everything. She tries to find out more about Sonal, but Chirag gruffly tells her to go away. (Again, wonderful performance by Ansha ma'am here 👏 👏 ⭐️)
Scene 12 - The CID Bureau
Purvi enters the bureau and informs ACP sir about the lady she had seen in Chirag's room, providing him with the chip containing her hidden camera's recording. They check the footage; Shreya matches the lady's photo with their database and identifies her as Sonal, Dilawar's mistress. They wonder why she's living in the basti with Chirag. Sachin suggests that Dilawar is cooking up something seriously dreadful and is keeping her concealed with Chirag for safety. ACP sir says that they can get to Dilawar via Sonal, which can only be done by Abhijeet sir.
**Flashback Ends: Back To Present**
Scene 13 - The Dark House
We're now back to the present, the dark house in Scene 3 where action had left off. Pakhiya' agrees to be Sonal's bodyguard. He tries to tell this good news to his friends', but Dilawar confiscates his phone and hands him a new one. He tells him to take care of Sonal while he goes out for a month.
Scene 14 - Hospital
ACP sir, Rajat and Shreya meet the injured Sachin at the hospital, who is recovering well. There's a nice light moment. He says that he was confident about Abhijeet sir's aim, that he would fire in a way to cause him the least amount of damage possible (couldn't he have just used a fake bullet, though?). We see a brief flashback shot of scene 1 where Pakhiya' and Sachin exchange brief glances before the former reluctantly grazes his shoulder with a bullet. ACP sir is delighted that none of their enemies suspected the trap and Abhijeet sir has successfully infiltrated Dilawar's gang. Daya sir enters, worried that Abhijeet sir's phone is unreachable and thus they must keep an eye on him and Sonal at all times now. ACP sir guesses that Abhijeet sir's phone has been confiscated, and instructs his officers to get positioned all over in the basti for their mission.
Scene 15 - Basti
The scene switches back to the basti. We see Purvi disguised as a (really cute) tapori, Nikhil as a press-wallah
and Freddy sir as a roadside beggar. Pakhiya' exits one of the nearby houses and discreetly takes note of Nikhil. Abruptly, a biker drives up and crashes into him; we see that it's none other than our own Daya sir disguised as a cranky old man.
Pakhiya' gets into an argument with Mr. "Expiry Date" 🤣 🤣 who dared to ram into him; two of Dilawar's henchmen are seen watching and fretting if he'll accidentally reveal Dilawar's name in the heat of the moment.
As the argument escalates,
two more henchmen turn up to break it up and send off the "uncle", but not before our duo has exchanged an understanding glance (a really-must watch scene, both comical and outstandingly performed by our unmatchable duo 👏 👏 ⭐️ ). Once the crowd disperses, the original two cronies mention that they were asked to take care of some parcel, and leave in another direction. Freddy sir updates Daya sir about this. Daya sir keeps an eye on them.
Scene 16 - A Clinic
Sonal and Pakhiya' are seen at a clinic, to get her injured hand bandaged. She accepts it as an occupational hazard of being a dangerous gangster's mistress. She passes off Pakhiya' as her brother Avinash and they proceed to leave. Pakhiya' hints that he's ready to defend her from Dilawar's alleged abuse if required. We see three of Dilawar's goons seated outside; one of them talks on phone and mentions that something has been finalized to take place during the Ganpati festival. Pakhiya' helps a pregnant woman who's dropped her purse while Sonal prays to a shrine of Lord Ganesha there, and then they leave.
Scene 17 - The CID Bureau
Rajat enters with a list of the seven schools which run from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. ACP sir says that one of them possesses what they need to get to Dilawar. Shreya enters; we see that she was in disguise as the pregnant lady at the clinic. She mentions that Abhijeet sir only managed to pass the word "Ganpati" to her. Sachin and Rajat construe that he must've been referring to the Ganesh utsav, which is due in two days. ACP sir decides to find out about the school timetable first.
Scene 18 - Redwood School
ACP sir, Rajat and Sachin meet the spots teacher of one Redwood school and confirm that the timings of their swimming classes in the evening match with the timetable. The teacher says that while there haven't been any suspicious happenings there, a student named Sunny hasn't been attending either regular or swimming classes. On the 8th of September, his father informed the authorities that he's going to visit his grandmother in Indore, which is strange seeing that their exams were approaching. Rajat notes that Mangar was murdered on the same day. The teacher agrees to provide them with Sunny's address and mentions that his father, Mr. Milind, is an intelligence officer.
Scene 19 - Basti
Purvi is seen following the two parcel guys in her tapori disguise, while updating the Daya sir via microphone, who is again disguised as an old man. She spots them buying toys in a store and also overhears them getting toffees for some child. Daya sir says that it could be the one whose schedule they found. Purvi follows the two thugs for a while until they disappear into another section of the area. Daya sir instructs her to watch the surroundings since Dilawar is their actual target.
Scene 20 - Milind's House
ACP sir, Rajat, Sachin and Shreya meet Milind and his wife at their home. He welcomes them and confirms that he's an IB officer (I'd have expected this kind of info to be kept discreet 🤓). On being asked they're told that Sunny is visiting his grandfather in Mangalore, and adds that he went there from Indore. ACP sir mentions about the timetable they got from Chirag. Milind examines that paper and points out that it doesn't bear Sunny or his school's name, and they're probably making unmatched connections. Milind receives a call for an urgent meeting and prepares to leave, and tells the team that they may meet Sunny when he returns from Mangalore after a few days. They pay respects and leave.
Scene 21 - Basti
The scene switches back to the disguised Daya sir in the basti. He contacts ACP sir and informs him about the two guys buying stuff for a kid. ACP sir tells him about Sunny and Milind and says that the latter is obviously hiding from them the fact that his son has been kidnapped. He decides to send photos of Milind and Sunny to Daya sir via MMS. At this point, a Ganpati procession with reveling dancers
and dholis passes through the area and they're unable to converse properly. Sonal is seen watching the procession from her window. Pakhiya' observes her somber mood and cracks a joke to lighten her up. She thanks him for his concern and care, and we see that they've started developing a platonic bond. Sonal expresses her wish to get away from Dilawar; Pakhiya' says that they need to be exceptionally careful as his henchmen are constantly watching them.
She asks to be taken to pay respects to Lord Ganesha at the procession and Pakhiya' agrees.
Scene 22 - Ganesh Pandal
The Ganesh utsav is in full swing. Daya sir is there in the same disguise along with ACP sir in traditional Marathi attire, Dr. Salunkhe as a dholi, Freddy sir in his beggar disguise again, Sachin and Nikhil as tapori-types, Shreya in Bengali attire. Daya sir and ACP sir spot Milind moving around in the area and construe that he must've come to meet the kidnappers there. They watch him alertly. Soon, Pakhiya' and Sonal arrive along with a few of Dilawar's cronies and pray to Lord Ganesha. Pakhiya' spots Milind and tells Sonal to hurry up as they have to leave soon. Dr. Salunkhe spots two guys arriving with a child and informs ACP sir (some jarring dubbing here). Daya sir recognizes them as Dilawar's henchmen Jagga and Bheja (?); Sachin notes that the boy is Sunny and is smiling happily, apparently not knowing that he's been taken hostage. Pakhiya' watches on and eventually moves away from the pandal with Sonal. Freddy observes them approaching Milind and Jagga, and wonders why. As they walk by the crooks, Sonal seizes Jagga's gun and fires a bullet in the air. Everybody pauses and stares at the drama now unfolding in front of them.
