Just a guess...I heard some rumours during the Grahan series that Satam sir was acting in a Marathi movie. in the photo with Rekha, we can see that Satam sir has grey hair...he has not coloured them...which could be because of the Marathi movie...maybe he needs to have grey hair there. He doesn't want to appear in CID with grey hair all of a sudden, hence the cap.

but he looks even more graceful with grey hair than the dyed as we used to see him during 2005-2007 😊
