Really, I'm ecstatic too. Hum pyaase, aur ye nadi hai. Finally an end to the long drought of mediocrity in CID episodes. 😃 Really kept me glued to the screen throughout. Agreed, the ending felt a bit unrealistic, but I think we've seen far worse compared to this. I think Santosh Shetty did a bang on job with the story here, and our team was at their best once again.
Positives -
* Crisp and smooth story, full of action and suspense from start to finish, no redundant scenes that slow the pace. The plot was sensible and largely written with notable precision despite the obvious time constraints. The culprit wasn't predictable. The direction was pretty good for most of the part as well, and good editing. The dialogue writer did a great job here IMO - really effective conversations and one-liners by our team. And I'm glad that for once there's no cliched phaansi dialogue!
* The duo totally rocked. 😎 The first scene itself was a treat for us who were tired of not having them together since a long time, the disguise and chase scene was awesome. Abhi sir was then back in his Laapata Kidney / Abhijeet In Coma / AKAKR I form and it was a total treat yet again. 😃 His performance when disguised in the hospital and drugged, when he cleverly distracts the docs to grab the mobile and then cleverly reveals their location to Daya sir (did they read our latest Story Contest by chance? 😉 ) and then going into AKAKR I-esque destruction mode while tied to the chair was total awesomeness. 👏👏
* Daya sir was equally good, it feels so long since he's been back in this form. 😃 Great performance, and especially loved his dialogue after the blast - "Abhijeet, tumhaare jaise dost hon toh mujhe kuch nahin ho sakta". 👏 The blast scene was very well done as well, loved how he notices the flashing light on the bomb reflected on the fridge door. ACP sir had comparatively less screen time, but he was at his leadership best in the scenes where he was present. Vivek and Freddy had a decent part today as well, and the forensic scene was short but precise, liked that paper clue. I even thought Dr. Tarika was okay in her role this time. The supporting cast was pretty good as well, especially that lady who played Dr. Sumeet.
Negatives -
* The twins idea at the end was a bit of a deus ex machina. Even accepting that, it seems pretty far-fetched that the two sisters went to the same hospital but never came across each other! 😕 A better idea would've been to have the twin working at some other place so they never really had a chance to meet.
* A few more questions were left unanswered... what exactly was Babu's role in here, and why was the sharp shooter after him? Whether it blackmailing, or a contract, is never properly explained. How and by whom Babu was murdered at the hospital isn't revealed either. And if Sumeet's sister was holding that huge rifle near the elevator (as shown in the flashback shot), how come Daya sir didn't see it? She didn't have any case or bag to hide it.
* ACP sir, Kajal and Vivek could've been given slightly larger roles.
Apart from this, I think the positives largely exceed the negatives. This is further strong evidence to show that good stories are what make a lot of difference in the quality of the show. FW, please humein aise hi acche episodes ke darshan karaate rahiye! I am elated. 😃
