I think that's probably not exactly true (in any country there are always a small group of people who will eat weird things but I doubt its part of their general cuisine). I have lots of Chinese American friends, the food is delicious - especially the home-cooked stuff you can't always order in restaurants.

BTW I LOVE Turkish food too! I even bought a cookbook last time I visited but cooking is not one of my strengths🤣

Seriously... super lucky!

My mom signed us up for kiddie food prep classes when we were around 9-10, that taught us to make eggs and rice and peanut butter jelly sandwiches, basic stuff like that 😆
The idea was to teach kids to be self-sufficient if they were, I dunno, left home alone or stranded away from their family or something...

To this day, that's about all I can make - for anything else, I order out 🤣

My mom doesn't cook much either!

I'm lucky to have a roomie and friends who love to bake so I benefit from their talents🤣

I can make a decent batch of brownies... otherwise I'm all about cake and cookie mixes😆

I once tried to make gajar halwa for a Diwali function - hoo, that was a disaster...🤣
