KARAN ARJUN STARRING SRK AND SALMAN KHAN REVOLUTIONISED THE CONCEPT OF REVENGE-REBIRTH

Karan Arjun: a film that drips brilliance. Unfathomable as it may seem, it's already been 20 years since the movie that revolutionised the concept of revenge-rebirth, set the box office on fire. Two young superstars (from an era where they were open to hugging it out), a mother who delivered every dialogue like a breathless combination of threat and plea, a heroine with the oddest wardrobe and another one whose sole purpose seemed to be dance numbers; this movie was nothing short of perfect.

Released in the same year as the blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, this film created a niche for itself and had movie-lovers salivating as they did their best to come to terms with this mother-loses-sons-gets-them-back-20-years-later saga.

Like every legendary Bollywood potboiler worth thousands of reruns on television, Karan Arjun too has plenty of songs that people still discuss in hushed tones of reverence. Partly because of the inspired lyrics but mostly because of some truly unique choreography . Presenting some of those glorious steps which will in all probability blow your mind.

• Let us begin with the mother of all GIFs starring THE mother and the two heroes before reincarnation. A moment to appreciate the woman who made "mere Karan Arjun aayenge" a household dialogue. Technically not dance, but hello! That one-after-another-head-count takes practice da.

• If there is one song in the film that wins the award for unbridled enthusiasm, it is Bhangra Paale. In this step, Bollywood meets Michael Jackson. Aaand the two have a slight disagreement about how the fusion ought to look like.

• A little later in the song, Salman and Shah Rukh demonstrate how frogs move, thereby enlightening many a 90s kid. #WisdomWaleKaranArjun

• Another song in the film, which if ever forgotten will cause life as we know it to end, is Jai Maa Kali. Because which heroine worth her salt would not dance like one possessed by several spirits at once when her father and her would-be in-laws force her to sit through a pre-wedding puja? Total fire-cracker, this one.

• This GIF from the same song may make all pre-wedding functions seem unenthusiastic. Because once you've seen a dance like THAT, everything else would seem just plain ol' silly.

• The oddest step of the lot: look carefully at this bit of devilry and do tell us what exactly is happening here in the name of dance. WHAT are you doing SRK?
• We saved the best one for the last because we're cool like that. This aunty and her moves have enough swag to put Govinda to shame. Look. At. Her. Move.
