No more soap stories for Barun

Sobti, who is all set to make his acting debut in B- Town with Main Aur Mr. Riight, says he won't work in TV dailies as the erratic schedules took a toll on his health

TV heartthrob Barun Sobti, who is finally making his big screen debut with the long delayed comedy film Main Aur Mr. Riight, is not very happy with television's daily show format. Although he has achieved success with this medium ( through the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon), he does not want to work in the same format again. Explaining his decision, he says, " If you are working on a project that gives you a health scare, beyond a point you will take a call right? Having said that, I don't deny that I got my name and fame thanks to TV. But again, you can't give all the credit to the medium, I also worked very hard." Barun adds, " The TV system runs haphazardly. Working conditions too are quite bad but the sad part is that many actors go with it because it earns them money and recognition. So this allows the system to exploit them. They are taken for a ride because they are scared to run out of work. The heavy duty strain even drains away the confidence with which they had arrived." Remembering his stint in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, he says, " I had first signed the show only for a year, but when that period was over, the producer requested me to stay on as they had just started making money.

So I carried on and in the process I become very popular.

Hence, when I finally quit the show, it shut down." Ask Barun about his hugely aggressive fan following on the net and he says, " I try to stay away as far as I can as it can drive you crazy. I just tell them to live and let live. They had created much noise after I quit Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Gul Khan ( producer) and I had to make a video to clarify things.

People were wrongly blaming her for my exit. After I told her that I needed a break, she fully supported me." He has no qualms about accepting that he has finally made an entry on Twitter just to publicise his film. He says, " You can say so, but then now is the time when people need to know what I am doing. Before that, no one needed to know what I am doing in my life." Barun also hopes that limited series make a big splash in the Indian TV industry. " I would like to work in them for sure. I just wish that shows air weekly and for an hour," he says
