Hmm...I guess I understand. I don't know. To be honest, I don't watch every BW movie, and I do think the mainstream stuff is still bad for the most part. It is just when I see directors like Vishal Bharadwaj; I realize they fit perfectly in this new era. Or smaller films like Bheja Fry and even 15 Park Avenue made money at the box office or at least recoup their fees on DVD. That could not happen before. Or even the era of the gangster flicks in the early part of the decade offered an option from just the lovey dovey stuff. Haha, I am not much of a girlie girl so I love the darkness that Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra had in Aks or the first film that brought me back to watching new Hindi movies again was Dil Chahta Hai. I guess I like the options, but yeah I could go on and on complaining about the phenomenon of the crude comedies like SIK, Anil Bazmi movies, and plagiarization. It is just the idea of having an option is exciting I guess. Directors like Rajkumar Hirani doing the films he does couldn't have worked anywhere else. The Legend of Bhagat Singh is a good movie by the way that almost no one saw or Sehar, both very good, and so different in a good way. Sorry, I am rambling.
No, not at all. I really enjoyed reading your post! I really like the movies you mentioned all the interesting movies that weren't over hyped. I am going to check some of these out (the ones that I haven't seen)! I think of all the movies from last year I found A Wednesday to be quite decent. Did you get to watch it? I am not much of a girlie girl either and don't really enjoy the lovey dovey movies.
