First things first - Rajat is a shining star in the current crop of tv actors(or should I say non-actors). The way in which this guy uses his eyes, switch in facial expression and voice modulation in expressing anger and melancholia is terrific and unseen on Hindi television today. While the fact that he will get such myriad expressions to play only in historic serials revolving around him is a pity but at the same time a blessing in disguise. Otherwise imagine him doing a part in the saas bahu nautanki and getting lost in the joint family of 100 relatives living under the same roof howling and growling on the holier than thou heroine. What a travesty that would be. Well we saw a trailer of that in Naagin where RT appeared as the Ichhadaari Nevla (what a pathetic concept), lesser said the better about the asininity.đ¤˘
So back to CN đand that episode when he charges towards Nandini and asks her with all due abhorrence what is her samasya, that who is she, a crass lady dancing suggestively in front of a prestigious gathering or the goddess of innocence she claims herself to be. To see him, furious with a vengeance but at the same time genuinely asking her to explain herself, really looking for a reason to believe her, one can see Rajat as an actor give everything in, and the result on the screen is fantasticđ. Very few actors can boast of enacting such emotional and hateful outbursts (that our leading man excels in) and look every bit as gorgeous as Rajat does while in the act. I don't know how this result is achieved, but humen to aam khane se matlab hainđ
Yesterday s episode was a refreshing one because of absence of major villainy. But at the same time, it was wonderful also to witness Rajat emanating sadness not only via his expressions but entire body language. The way he first refuses the book Nandini gives him then accepts it while she makes the puppy face, and then while packing ruminates "Jaane kyu man kar raha hai ise rok lun aur kabhi na jane dun", the quiver in the voice matches perfectly with the droopy eyes and it just breaks your heartđ
It is therefore, absolute heart felt happiness then to see the sparkle in his eyes when he comes to know that Dadi isnt going for now, and no matter how much he fights with himself on "Mujhe kyu prasannata ho rahi hai", the spring in his step to call the vaidya is unmistakableđ It is also for this reason that the last act of the episode where Chandu-Nandu run around the room, teasing and laughing was quite relatable to see and not at all indigestible as it seemed in the promo the previous day. All the laughter and playfulness was only an expression of the relief and joy of yet another chance at togetherness that both C and N feel have been given to them by chance. It is very refreshing to see the portrayal actuallyđłđł
Now coming to Nandini and Rupa, I have been seeing in this forum a lot of hatred for Rupa's character or how it has been written and dished out. So once again, contrary to majority, I would say I am loving the way SBP has actually approached the rusty, wild character. Now, when we criticise the character Rupa for being crass and low life, what else where we expecting from the character really? The girl is supposed to be a polar opposite of the leading lady here. She is a rustic and wild girl brought up in a non-nurtured and rather free environment away from the bindings of culture, rules, ethics, morals and righteousness. One can take her character as to be loose, well I choose to consider her FREE. Ofcourse in hindi serials the women who are unapologetically assured of their sexiness and confidence , independent of the need of men for love etc., are often shown as vamps, as is the case here. She is taking revenge and so would anyone if their father left them to die and rot while giving all the worldly luxuries to someone else that they were also entitled to. So while it IS sad to watch her making our Nandini's life difficult , I dont hate her as everything is justified. Secondly, I am in love with SBP's portrayal of this character. I believe SBP s approach towards Rupa is amazing and the comfort that she is showing as far as her rustic magadhi, her suggestive body language or her fierceness is concerned, SBP is top notch. I have lived a lot of my life in Bihar and aware of the bihar dialect and can vouch for it, Shweta has a Bihari father and it would have been natural for her to achieve that dialect perfectly. Ofcourse, I have my apprehensions as to whether in 300BC in Mauryan empire Magadhi was being spoken in the form like it is today. But then that's one of the many logical bereavements that one can associate an Ekta serial with đ.
Thirdly, Daadi - She is sooo cute. đłReally don't understand people who find her annoying (I even found some posts saying she should die for good riddance đ˛) why in the world?!! If it wasn't for Dadi and Rajmata (another superb actress) our Chandu and Nandu would have blown the Magadh palace to fire and then some. Given the questionable IQ of the leading pair, there would not be any progress in the story at all if not for the meddling of the dadi-mata duo. I think we should be thankful to them rather than being annoyed. đ
Been a long post. And now it's past 7, new episode will be up on Hotstar, so gong to watchđ.
