If I remember correctly, as per history, Maliakethu was poisoned and done to death as per instructions from Chanakya.
Keeping this in mind, am sure, Chandra and Chanakya are capable of giving the ultimate sentence to Malay if they come across evidence in a jiffy. Its not difficult, Malay also knows this. Both C & C are giving him the benefit of doubt as he was also Chanakya's student, his change of heart can be genuine.
Yes, its true that C & C are playing with the life of Chaya. But, in those early BC times, who marries a pregnant widow. Atleast, there is a chance in life for the girl.
At the same time, of giving a different POV, Malay can be having the ulterior motive, but lying low for now and waiting for his opportunity. He tried head on confrontation with Chandra and also tried associating with Chandra's enemy Nandas, but, it did not work out. So, he is trying a different method. The next big drama is Durdhara's pregnancy and poisoning of the baby - the Magadh successor to the throne. I will not be surprised if Ekta will bring in a twist, where it could be proved (after suspecting too many people in Magadh palace) that in fact, Malayakethu had tried poisoning the child.
Wait and watch, lets see.
