musing #1
Eyes closed, heart beating fast. The salty breeze gently picked up tendrils of her hair and blew them across her face. She took in a shaky breath. A musky scent. Salt from the sea, but also something fresh. Like pines from a thick forest.
Tara lifted her head. A pair of eyes stared back. To others, they may be a common black but she was reminded of obsidian stones. Intense, deep, with a streak of light shining through. Such intensity… she had never seen something quite like it before. She trembled before its power. His hand, which was clasping hers, tightened.
Hidden words, unspeakable feelings. The pain, the yearning.
Emotions she makes visible mostly in solitude. But him? He was showing it now. To her. Why?
Had they been better friends she might have even asked. Even as strangers, she could but with what right could she ask him something so personal?
His grip loosened. Eyes hardened. Walls were raised once more. Distance parted them and the bond she felt in that inexplicable moment, slowly melted away.
