Imran Khan's friendship with Shruthi Hasan came in handy
Kamal Hasan and Sarika's daughter Shruthi Hasan has replaced Jaqueline in Soham Shah's Luck. Both she and Imran play sporty characters in the film.
And it's more than just luck that has got Shruthi the role. It may have been the good offices of close buddy Imran Khan, the hero of the film. Imran and Shruthi's friendship goes back to the friendship between their mothers Nuzhat Khan and Sarika. It's because of this friendship that Shruthi and her sister Akshara have stayed as house guests at Nuzhat's place for years.
Before Kamal Hasan and Sarika split up, they used to rent a house in Mumbai to stay when they came to town. After the split, Nuzhat offered her house to Sarika and her daughters to stay in. Sarika didn't remain in Mumbai, but her daughters did, for years. And they stayed with Nuzhat. So Imran and Shruthi are almost like family.
Earlier Shruthi was supposed to make her acting debut in a Tamil film, with Madhavan. But the film was shelved. Industry insiders say that that's when Imran apparently helped her out by putting in a word for her with Soham Shah, although Soham has been saying that it was Shruthi's lean and athletic build that helped her snag the role.
