Carries on the family tradition with plenty of tantrums and arrogance
Ranbir Kapoor who is still considered a mere newcomer in B town has been acting up these days.
The Kapoor lad who already has his hands full has hiked his price to a staggering amount.
Actually the Kapoor boy is following the trend set by the 'A' league stars Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
My source from TIPS says, "When TIPS approached Ranbir for the film, 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' with Katrina Kaif in the lead and Rajkumar Santoshi as the director, he demanded a staggering Rs.7 crore plus a share in the profit of the film. It surely is the highest fee ever demanded by a newcomer in Bollywood. TIPS gave in to this demand and also got on an oral agreement with him for 2 more films."
Gosh, what makes Ranbir ask such a huge amount of money?
Not even a year in the industry and he thinks he can match up to biggies (read oldies) like SRK and Akki.
Actually it's the unwarranted attention that has gone to his head.
His debut venture 'Saawariya' had crashed at the box office, yet filmmakers have been making a beeline for him.
Despite being just a film old, Ranbir has in his kitty prestigious projects like 'Rajneeti' with Prakash Jha, Karan Johar's next tentatively titled 'Wake Up Sid', Shimit Amin's 'Rocket Singh', debutante director Vikramjit Singh's 'Mera Jahan' and the Sajid Nadiadwala produced next to be directed by Siddharth Anand along with Saif reportedly based on the Oscar winning hit 'The Departed' with Ranbir playing Leonardo Di Caprio's part.
Umm... so the good old producers can be blamed for the lad's newfound bossy ways.
Another birdie adds, "Ranbir has started demanding this amount for every new film that he is signing. Apparently, Akshay Kumar who demands a fifty percent in the profits of the films that he signs started this trend. Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan laid down the terms that they would sign films only if they co-produce them."
Looks like Ranbir is under the false impression that he will have dozens of hits to his name soon.
The greenhorn doesn't even realise his actual worth. Looks like this lad is unable to handle the prestige associated with the Kapoor surname and the needless adulation.
Now this latest attitude of Ranbir has been heavily criticised by filmmakers.
A leading director on condition of anonymity told me, "Actors like SRK, Aamir or even an Akshay started demanding a profit share when they had already given a few hits to the producers. They started demanding a share in the profits when the producers started cashing in on them. So far, Ranbir has had only one film to his credit and it has not done well at the box-office. Ranbir could have at least waited for a single hit before demanding such a price. He seems too overconfident about his next release, the Yash Raj project, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'".
And, looking at Yash Raj's record of the past couple of years, it would have been a better idea to play it safe.
I think this guy's got enough hot air to be air borne soon. And crash land on the sets of a Bhojpuri film if he's not careful!
