Akshay stole the show as a reluctant-to-assist crooked cop while Tusshar was above par as the earnest rookie sub-inspector. Intrigue was provided by the unpredictable Aishwarya Rai, seen in her first negative role. The bad guy was Ajay Devgan, in a rather predictable performance.

![]() | | When Harry Met Sally worked well with desi audiences in this Kunal Kohli directed avatar, which had Saif Ali Khan playing an unflappable cartoonist and Rani Mukerji his irrepressible muse. The film meandered frivolously through a repetitive plot cliche, but the actors carried it off. It was Saif's first big individual film success, and Rani is the industry's current darling! The high points: Rishi Kapoor and Kiron Kher, playing the smile-provoking parents. |
![]() | | This love legend is a lavish epic on a wonderfully extravagant scale, and crowds starved of the concept of true romance lapped it up loyally. The film stars the three most successful stars of the industry: Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, and the man leading the rest of the pack, Shah Rukh Khan. Add to it Chopra's trademark blend of emotions, and a dash of the legendary Madan Mohan's music, and you have a film that can't help but be successful. |
| ![]() | | With good buddy SRK pouring in the crores, Farah's Main Hoon Na is a misunderstood spoof, where she affectionately, and constantly, references all the films she -- and most of us -- grew up watching. Agreed, it may not be subtle, but it is an endearing tribute to films we've all, at some point, obssessed upon. Plus, it has a ravishing Sushmita Sen, some rather decent youngsters, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao, and the inimitable Shah Rukh Khan. When you watch the film again, look out for the scene where Zayed is hanging from the roof and SRK is dashing to the rescue: the music playing is from the Omen saga, from when the nurse is hanged from the roof. Brilliant! |
