ohh yes they can speak tooo not all bt those whose mother tongue is urdu!! bt every1 can write , i mean most muslims!
Nothing to be surprised. Urdu is a part of India and has been a part of India forever. Many writers (including Gulzar who is not a muslim) writes in Urdu. A language can not be bound to religion. I am a Hindu and have learnt Urdu in school, as a second language. There are lot of scholars and writers who have kept Urdu poetry alive in India. There are lot of Urdu news papers. In UP, Bihar, Kashmir, parts of Delhi Urdu is commonly used. I do not beleive that use of Urdu would lead to any failure or success. It is a very very rich and beautiful language and is considered to be the sister of Hindi in the "Ganga-Yamuna" sanskriti of our country.
