'Salman is not shorter than me'

She is charming, vivacious and very friendly. The she in question is actor Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor, who came to our office on November 2 for a chat. Readers got to know more about the actress and her debut film, Saawariya in this entertaining tete-a-tete. For those who missed the chat, here's the transcript. Sonam Kapoor says, Hello all the readers! A very happy Diwali in advance. I'm going to have a blast chatting with you today. Bring the questions on... andy asked, Hi! You have been assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali... in Direction. How come you turned to acting? Was it only on the insists of Mr. Bhansali or there was your inner voice to which you have listened to?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I think it was a combination of both, though he did give me the initial nudge into self-reflection. I realise that I am an actor, so I'll forever be grateful to him realising my true self. SHREY asked, YOUR FACE IS LIKE MY PAST SISTER
Sonam Kapoor answers, Thank you, I guess. I'm glad you saw someone you loved in me. kkkkk asked, how is it working with salman khan?is salman shorter than u whats ur height?
Sonam Kapoor answers, No, Salman is not shorter than me, we are the same height. And he is a rock star in the true sense of the word.

emmarulz asked, sonam,hav u been told you resemble anyone before. I personally think you look like Rekha-the great actress.
Sonam Kapoor answers, That's such a huge compliment, I hope I maintain myself as well as she did.

Sonam Kapoor answers, Hi, the concept of casting couch exists in every industry, and since the film industry is so much in the limelight it seems more prevalent. But there are all sorts of people in this world and its upto to the individual to stick to their ideals and morals K a Y a asked, The special SCREENING of Saawariya was recently held. Did you like what you saw? :) How was the Reaction? and I remember you mentioned that you dreaded your BROTHER's comments the most. Did he watch the screening? If yes, what was his REaCTiOn?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I cannot comment on myself, but according to me, Mr Bhansali has made a masterpiece, its a moving painting with emotional content and flawed and human characters. The reaction was tremendous and all who saw it were awed and moved by it. My brother has not seen it yet. Sonam Kapoor answers, Ranbir (Kapoor) as an individual is the extremely talented and hard working, to top that he is a man with the strictest morals. And that according to me makes for a successful human being. It does not matter what your family background is if you do not have those qualities. bir asked, sona will you out with me??????

Sonam Kapoor answers, Yes fortunately I am a nerd, and my favourite book is Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Its the most romantic book I've ever read. Right now I'm reading a book called Russian Concubine.

'Mr Bhansali trained me for four years'

Shim asked, What kind of roles do you dream of? That really excites you and you wish you get some like that?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I dream of roles that have good content, layers and depth. For example, Waheeda Rehman's role in Guide had grey shades and was extremely well rounded. hemu asked, In Bollywood, is looking good Important or it is an added benefit ?
Sonam Kapoor answers, It is very important to look good, but it should not bog you down at all, its better to feel good about your self and create your looks around the character you are playing. vrs asked, i have one question to u. its on ur father. Sonam Kapoor answers, Leaving modesty behind, I think I'm very comfortable in my own skin. AkanshaS asked, Hi..How did you get the chance to work wid Sanjay Leela Bhansali as ur debut? Did u join any acting classes?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I've studied theatre arts, where I studied Stannislavski, Artaud, Craig and Brecht. After that Mr Bhansali trained me for four years. I've also been under the tutelage of Jayati Bhatia and Taneja saab.

ganesh123 asked, Wat is ur favourite moment while shooting SAAWARIYA?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I think its the climax. When you see the film you'll realise what I mean. It is the purest moment that any individual can go through.

Sonam Kapoor answers, Thank you. I'm very proud to be my father's daughter and I don't look like him, so to have a stamp of his on me is a privilege, even if it's just a smile. Fariha asked, Hey Sonam! I hope you are feeling better today. Just know you already have fans who care very deeply about you and wish you all the best. I know you said the whole making of Saawariya has been an amazing experience for you but if you can pinpoint to just one, what would you most favorite memory during the making of the movie?
Sonam Kapoor answers, (Laughs) Hi Fari, I'm better, thank you for asking. My favourite two moments are the RK moment and the climax.

bollywoodfan asked, HOW IS RANI MUKHERJEE as and actress and an indivudual did she help you and Ranbir during the shooting of the film, i loved the way she comforted you and Ranbir on the music launch, will Rani be attending the premier of Saawariya in New York or in Mumbai
Sonam Kapoor answers, Rani Mukerji is brilliant. She's my favourite actor. It is a pleasure and a great learning experience to watch her act. She is one of my closest friends and has been a huge pillar of strength for the last 8-9 years, to my family and me.

Sonam Kapoor answers, I am going to concentrate on acting right now but my personality is that of a writer. I would love to write scripts for films. sayonkar asked, hey sonam,which song u liked most in sawariya???I liked the song "Dekho chand aya,chand nazar aya"
Sonam Kapoor answers, My three favourite songs are Jabse Tere Naina, the Id song, and Thode Badmaash. jaikumar asked, Hi sonamji, Will you do comic roles like your father?
Sonam Kapoor answers, I think comedy is the most difficult genre to act in. It requires impeccable timing and total lack of inhibitions. And I would love to challenge myself, in that sense.
