Nope I saw the ad because my mum had it recorded on some tape along with a movie which I saw as a kid. Or something like that..

I can't remember the exact details

It was Kailash Surendranath who offered Sallu his first few ads. And that's Surendranath's wife Aarti.

Campa cola was insanely popular until mid to late 90s.

I have seen so many canteens with its logos as a kid.

Only after globalisation, Pepsi and Coke invaded Indian market, added Ash, Aamir, SRK, Amitabh, HR as ambassadors, killed all local beverage companies and took over.

Then Pepsi and Coke came everywhere.

I am surprised how Maaza, Thums Up managed to survived the onslaught.

Otherwise Crush, Fanta, Goldspot, Campa cola, Rola cola, Limca etc all either got acquired by Pepsico or Coke or were forced to shut down.

Dukes mangola was popular in those days of 80s

Fanta mirinda limca thumps up still there on indian stores

I think Thums Up is also acquired by Coke..but they retained the brand name similar to Fanta..Thums Up is still my favourite..Coca Cola and Pepsi are so blaah😆

Thum Up is still brand Coca Cola. Since thumbs up has big market in India they let it survive.

Thanks for correcting me.

I was mistaken Thums Up was a different stand alone brand.

It is surprising how Pepsico and Coca cola acquired lot of other local brands of drinks and snacks.

Coca cola and Pepsico were banned in India to give way to Desi brands of the same kind. Ironically these brands went out of fashion when Pepsi and Coca Cola made re entry.

It is obvious that people saw these brands only as a substitute to the original beverages.
