If not for YRF and KJo, SRK would've done films with other producers and continued to give hits as he did with Raj Kanwar, Rakesh Roshan, Aziz Mirza, Abbas Mastan.

YRF and Dharma in fact did more harm to actor SRK than any other producer/director duo he worked with.

Comeon HMR, you really think Salman's dad helped him to launch? When did Amitabh used that letter & how many times it helped?

Chalo, for your sake, just give me those film's name which are Hit or above verdict ones, all those films from 90s. When you will see that list, you will see Khan Saab has very less no. of those hits as compare to other stars.

Here it is -

1. Karan Arjun - Super Blockbuster

2. Pardes - Super Hit

3. Baazigar - Super Hit

4. Ram Jaane - Hit

5. Yes Boss - Hit

^^^ bas 5? This is not what the kind of STAR you guys are projecting would have achieved without YRF/DHARMA.

He got STAR & SUPERSTAR status coz of DDLJ/KKHH, not by doing Raju Ban gaya gentleman.

Guddu, you should accept, that you are biased in a certain way, too.

Of course, SRK had done successful movies outside Dharma and YRF (written in my initial post)...even after having his own production house, he worked successfully with others...it is not fair to reduce his success on the movies he did in the 90es or with KJo and YRF...and it isn't fair, either, to limit his success and reputation to India and/or the domestic boxoffice.

Very rare we could say that YES, this Hero/Character koi aur nahi kar sakta tha. The biggest example will be Saif Ali Khan was suppose to be doing DDLJ, he didn't Khan Saab did. Salman was suppose to do Baazigar, Khan Saab did. Aren't those films BIG HITs without the original cast who was suppose to play those roles?

But to say SRK would be nowhere without KJO. KJO legitimately came into movies after Srk. SRK legitimatized their studio with KKHH.

How much this info is authentic, I can't say, I haven't heard this part for KKHH. One thing which I know is, KKHH won't have been possible without Salman, as everybody refuse Karan for the role of Aman in film. Salman met Karan in a party & told him that he will do that role coz he respect Yash Uncle.

Karan has that talent or else he won't be having a 100% Success record for any director, it is rare.

Khan Saab was least fav. in this mega film, ppl were more excited for TRIO - Ghai - Kapoor - Shroff.

They have given Blockbuster hits like - Karma, Ram Lahan earlier.

It was a such a good movie.

Subash Ghais movies are so fun to watch in YT. Much better than new movies

Thanks for your suggestion, Guddu. I was a bit weary of the repeated statements that SRK would be "nothing" without the work he had done with KJo and YRF, that's why I dared to make a thread about. I like the thread title you suggest (it is far better 😊 ). If you yourself don't want to do it, then (maybe) I will do it some time or someone else can do it 😊.

One doesn't know the reasons why he did not the movies you wrote about, atominis. I myself only know that he asked Hirani to do first Munnabhai movie with another actor because he had to undergo a difficult operation not knowing the outcome (there was the danger of partly being paralysed). When 3 Idiots was planned, he already had other comittments.

When Ashutosh asked him because of Lagaan, SRK had just founded his first production house with Juhi and Aziz and they needed the money for their own movies (and were preparing Asoka).

So, I would not like to pass any judgement about him not doing the movies you mentioned.

Anyways, I think, SRK always tried to go against this romantic image carved by KJo and YRF but that was a tough task because it seems to me that a big part of the audience wanted him in these romantic roles.

Farah did not cast him as a romantic hero!
