Hey guys. I haven’t watched Bollywood films in years. I stopped watching them around 2008 (combination of being preoccupied with school and just losing interest in the Bollywood formula). However have recently watched Bajrangi Bhaijan, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, and Akaash Vani, and loved them all.

I want to watch something else that has a similar tone or approach to storytelling as these films. By that I mean a film that has a ‘slice of life’ theme without being depressing. I have sporadically kept up with Bollywood ‘news’ over the pandemic so know about some of the bigger recent releases (like Gangubai), but none of them peak my interest. I’m so out of the loop regarding the smaller films, so would really appreciate some recommendations.

Just to note, I don’t like patriotic or political films. Also not a fan of films that have been ‘adapted’ or ‘inspired’ by English films.
