This was recorded in 02/15 2019, his claim was so incendiary and toxic that it caused shock and rage, it made almost the entire country angry, people reacted against it, his claim had the potential to disrupt an entire system and get people riled up and to get mobs to protest violently as it was political, racial as well as homophobic. His claim was so outrageous that almost everyone sympathized with him and people were ready to react. Lucky for everyone that very day of his attack which was in the middle of the night just a few hours after his claim, dawn appeared in the horizon and with the clarity people started to think about the entire "attack" and started to put two and two together, rationalize and even before the authorities who favored him disproportionally, including multiple high ranking government officials, the people in his community started to question the veracity of his claims. It was black men and women, who called it a hoax and it was the people in the African American community who first pointed out that this guy was a fake and that his claims were a lie. In fact it was that community who then became really outraged at being used and lied to, that forced the legal system to investigate and the rest has become a tale of caution...
Today almost 2 years later he is facing a court of law and sentencing...I do not think that he will receive the punishment he deserves, I think the courts are going to be lenient, BUT the best thing is that Smollett a fairly successful actor who was starting out in what could have been a good career, ruined it in a one stunt act, becoming infamous and a joke that will forever be part of his persona.
LIES and manipulation matter and sometimes the outcome can be detrimental for one or for all.
