According to me, the heroines who can drive audiences into theatres:

1. Alia Bhatt ( Going only by statistics, she is at the top)

2. Deepika ( She has done only 2 female-centric movies Piku and Chapaak. Both opened at 4-5 crores. Piku went on to become a major hit, Chapaak flopped. But we can't write her off)

3. Kareena Kapoor Khan - Heroine opened at 7 crores, VDW where she was the main contribute at 10 crores,

4. Vidya Balan / Kangana Ranaut - Both are at the same place acc. to me. If the films are good content-0wise, they work. Otherwise they end up failing miserably.

Lol what nonsense...

In fact Katrina, Alia and Kangana are the ones with the LEAST solo box-office pull among the current top actresses...

A flowerpot with fading looks, a hugely disliked nepo kid and a woman who has been blacklisted by most the industry and turned into a full-time Twitter troll 😳

Anyway speaking of Twitter trolls I think this guy may well be trolling us himself lmao

Anjalika I completely agree about Katrina and Kangana, but talking about Alia she surely has box-office pull, even though it is manufactured and completely non-organic. Let's not forget Kalank opened at 20 crores even though it turned out to be a flop. Most of her movies are hits but again I feel it's because of her being thrust down our throats and most people lacking analytical skills to discern how pathetic she is as an overall actress-performer.

They're not "heroines." That glamour is long gone. These are just actresses who cannot act. 🥱

Tbh I think part of Alia's manufactured stardom is how we've all been made to think she in herself has a lot of box-office pull...

Yes Kalank had a great opening but look at the kind of film it was... big banner, tonnes of publicity, super high budget with beautiful sets/costumes/aesthetic, great music, controversial subject matter and not to mention an ensemble cast... actually it would be a wonder if such a film DIDN'T get a huge opening...

And also if we examine her more successful films, most of them seem to have small budgets combined with great storylines, which is actually the perfect combination for a hit, especially if the film gets the right amount of promotion (which any Alia film inevitably would)...

Put her in a movie with a bigger budget, and a slightly faulty story/direction and it would flop for sure... Put her in a movie with a faulty story and no other big stars and it would TANK.

Imo, solo box-office pull would be if an actress could do movies without other big stars, and possibly with bigger budgets or faulty storylines/direction, and still make them hits, so by that definition, Aloo doesn't really have it.

Alia has, but her longevity remains to be seen. Madhuri did. Sridevi did, too. Katrina, Kangana, Kajol, and Priyanka have not given hits on their own shoulders. Only other person who can remotely qualify to be on this list (though I hate to admit it) is Kareena.

I dont think any woman has it. Quite Frankly im not even sure about the men apart from Bhai and Akki.

I only named 2 men so I hope I dont get confused for sexism 😆

When even the biggest actress in country atm like Deepika and international eyekaauun like PC can't deliver even 10 cr opening then there is no chance for others.. The truth is female lead cinema is still a niche. It will either take a popular historic figure like Laxmi Bai or Padmavati for them to achieve those numbers. The rest depends on quality of the content.. Raazi was a 100 cr grosser because ppl liked the movie not because of Alia.. It would have done same numbers with any other A list actress.

Also in today's generation popularity is totally manufactured.. Likes of Kriti and Shraddha have immense SM following but their solo movie wouldn't even do average business.

I don't think any any present day actress can have the kind of stardom Madhuri and Sridevi had not even Deepika.

IMHO, the era of the big blockbuster has faded (I could be wrong). Leading men or leading ladies don't have the pull of yesteryear stars. It is the era of "content." What pulls people to the movies is the concept and execution.
