Let me gush a little bit about Aamir. I must admit when everyone was swooning over him in QSQT, I wasn't too impressed. I found him babyish and cute, sure, but not much else. I think the first movie where I really began liking him was JJWS. I love that movie, it's been in my go-to list forever. The thing I liked is that he wasn't afraid to play this character with slightly negative shades, and still made you root for him all through. That was his irresistible, undeniable screen presence and charm.

Then came DHKMN. I have watched almost every iteration of this one, but Aamir still brought such charm and likability to Raghu Jetley that I was smitten. His chemistry with Pooja Bhatt was awesome too.

Then HHRPK. I have always loved him with Juhi Chawla and this movie was no exception. I think it takes a very evolved and very secure actor to be content to playing the straight man to Juhi's more comic and audience-winning role. At no point I felt like he was trying to hog the limelight, he just stayed in character as Rahul and I found that very impressive.

AAA again was a total entertainer and now of course its a cult movie. I remember very few people liked it when it came out, I was one of them. It was zany, crazy, over-the-top but sooo fun. Salman was great in it too, and I loved how clever it is while at the same time being stupid. That part when someone brings up Sholay and Amar says "Iske baap ne likhi thi" never fails to crack me up🤣! The one-liners are terrific, and I really feel a lot of it is improvised and not scripted, especially their reactions.

Sarfarosh and Ghulam were excellent too, and how can I forget Rangeela where he played the tapori to perfection? He was so brilliant in that role, he had everyone convinced that Urmila's Mili would actually prefer this unkempt, uncouth ragamuffin Munna to the handsome, suave, debonair Jackie.

I have to talk about Lagaan now, with its huge ensemble cast, and mind you, Bhuvan is very much the hero here. Even so, he lets others have their shining moments. I read reviews on IMDB and have had non-Indian friends tell me about how much they loved that movie, and Aamir is not the only actor they speak of admiringly, but they always end up with asking for more Aamir movie recommendations.

In DCH he was perfect as the rakish and irreverent Akaash. I love the way he romances. He is subtle and charming, showing the intensity of his emotions with his expressive eyes. The scene in DCH where he breaks down after that phone call to his dad is brilliant, it never fails to move me. Even when he's mouthing utterly cheesy and inane dialogues, he remains sincere and cannot be faulted for his performance.

His cameos in Secret Superstar and Delhi Belly had me rofling (I hate you like I love you 🤣). Delhi Belly remains a favorite despite its crudeness and irreverence (or maybe because of it), as does JTYJN. My daughter loves TZP and his role in it, she wishes she had a teacher like Ram Shankar Nikumbh.

Even in his movies that I didn't like so much, I cannot fault the sincerity he brings to his performance. So yeah, an Aamir Khan movie still remains a significant event for me. I still liked him in his younger, romantic avatar more, and keep going back to those earlier movies to get my full dose of the AK charm. 😳

Everything you said!

As for Ram Shankar Nikumbh, everything else he had done on one side and this one role on another. I wish my 5 year old autistic son has a teacher like him. He has given hope to a ton of parents like me with this movie and for that I will forever be thankful to him.
