The audience for both are different. Even non filmy people have learnt the about dirty pr tacticse and blind items cause of sush's death which used to be discussed only in small forums. What he writes carries more weightage than what spotboy/pinkvilla/if people post on small forums.

Free forum so no need to apologize.. if the general public has no interest in Bollywood, it wouldn't care whether the award is rigged or not.. And every third person, whether on social media or not knows about the reality of awards, which is why they have gone down in ratings in recent years.. I never said its wrong.. I said its not an expose, thats all

And once again, non-filmy people wouldn't care about what goes in BW anyways.. they anyways have too much in their plates with the pandemic and all.. I am talking about people not interested in BW..

I’ld have appreciated more if Mr. Shekhar Gupta would have told the complete truth regarding Hrithik’s case. Hrithik won awards on other award shows as well in 2007 but why is it that he had a problem with only Screen awards? Raakesh Roshan was not nominated despite giving a hugely accepted sci-fi superhero film Krrish which was quite path-breaking at that time. It’s not such a big deal if being his son he felt disappointed with the jury, who did not even consider Rakesh Roshan worthy of a nomination.

He only refused to take his own award but did NOT cancel his performance which would have actually become an issue at the last moment. It’s a little to much to make him sound like a bully for not attending an after award party just because he is an insider.

There is an article in IF itself regarding the nominees of 13th Annual Star Screen awards 2007. Can’t post the hyperlink being a newbie.

While HR's sentiments re: his father are for sure admirable, most other professions would not put up with that sort of behavior. Letting the peeps in charge know an hour before the event? That's telling. Done to send a message they will be embarrassed if they don't conform. If he felt strongly Krrish deserved the award which was deliberately withheld, he would have done an Aamir and simply boycotted all award shows ahead of time.

I understand BW functions that precise way, but public is calling for a change. I would suggest to decent humans in the industry like HR (he still comes across that way to me) that they try to read the room better. Not pander, mind you. Perhaps not treat the sector like family business or oligarchy.

In the end, the whole article is about lack of respect which exists in BW. I would've used a different word: professionalism. Meaning, when you're in a workplace, act like a professional. There, family equations (or groupism) shouldn't count just as they shouldn't count in a police station or a newsroom or an operating theater.

Film awards were always a joke.. It is so obvious that they are not fair in giving these awards

So much is out there

Rishi Kapoor buying awards. Anil Kapoor winning once when the presenter didn’t even open the envelope. They said just said Anil won it and gave it to home 😆

Like how petulant and entitled are these people. I'm honestly not liking bollywood as a whole since all these stories started coming out...

Pehle mujhe lagta tha ki kuch log aise hain... Ab toh lagta hai ki sab ke sab aise hi hain.. Its like the eligibility criteria to stay in bollywood

Yes the bias’s seems too much

When you can’t think of an award to give someone you give them the “power award” 😆

Srk = multiple time winner

Aamir took a stand against this years ago- as the article also states. Actually in a weird way so did Selmon Bhai who hilariously left his "supporting award" for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai backstage and has openly called them sh*t. Even while accepting the award he was cracking up, probably knowing that KJO bought it for him

He does mention amir in his article. Aamir told him no matter what you do you won't be able to host a clean award show

That though he says we never tampered with awards (doubtable) but still awards kisko mil rahe hain yeh sab ko pehle se pata chal jata tha and then the tantrums start..... So they did release the list beforehand

I am assuming they have to release it, before requesting stars to perform at the event...........

I didn't know that everyone was aware that at Filmfare they won before the awards. That's like the U.S. People Choice Awards. Nominated and non presenting stars don't show up there unless they're winning for something.

But, notably, in 2007, there was Hrithik Roshan, chosen best actor (male) for Krrish, so far, so good. He was also contracted to perform on stage. He sent word an hour before the event that he would come and perform as contracted, but wouldn’t accept the award.

Why? Because how could he give legitimacy “to a jury that did not recognise the phenomenal talent of his father”? Rakesh Roshan was the film’s director. Hrithik did finally relent, but boycotted at least the customary post-awards star party.

Er. There was no award for him to pick up as Krissh. Hrithik was nominated for Krrish but he won for Dhoom 2.

The best film was shared between Vidya Balan-starrer Dirty Picture and multi-starrer Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD). So far, so good. But again, in its wisdom, the jury chose Milan Luthria (Dirty Picture) for best director, and not Zoya Akhtar (ZNMD).

On the day of the awards, Priyanka called in panic as usual. The cast and crew of ZNMD, she said, were boycotting. Now, how do you run an awards evening if nobody appears on the stage to accept ‘best film’. We again started diplomacy. But it wasn’t working. Not only was nobody from the film turning up, they had also persuaded all their friends.

At one point that evening, I got desperate enough to even call Javed Akhtar to plead with him. I did get a call back from Farhan. He turned up, sullen and in a black tee. He said while he might have come there out of respect (not for the jury), he wouldn’t accept the award on the stage. He left in a few minutes.

Abhy Deol recently said he didn't show up because he was nominated in Supporting instead of Lead. Nothing about Zoya not getting an award. He also bitched that Farhan said he didn't mind his Supporting Nom and that Farhan of course showed up at the awards. Heh. Doesn't sound like a group boycott effort.

I just checked hrithik won for krish only in 2007

Good read. I'm glad people are having more courage to be vocal about their experiences in the industry.
