Back then, even star kids didn’t debut on good movies. There was no KJo at that time that would be sugar daddy for the star kids. So star kids had to struggle too unless their parents are big stars like Twinkle or Bobby. Kajol also didn’t debut on big banner movie. Karishma too debuted on B-grade movie. I don’t think the debut makes much difference. Rani’s second movie Ghulam was with Aamir and then KKHH was with SRK. Then, there was not much looking back for her. Before Bollywood, she worked on a Bengali superhit movie Biyer Phul with Prosenjeet. So I don’t think her family background has anything to do with her B-grade debut movie but even some B-grade movies became superhit.

I don't think she debuted early due to financial issues because her father had big film studio filmalaya. She did not wanted to be actor. But I think acting chose her and it was good only because we got the 🌟 star which we see now.

Rest all stories I don't agree with. Those are all rumours.

Your lack of knowledge regarding Bollywood or even Govindas standing in the 90s is very evident. Just FYI- Haseena Maan Jayegi, Hero No 1, Coolie No 1, Aankhein, Deewana Mastana, Sajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Dulara, Dulhe Raja- these are some of the movies I can recall off thetop of my head. Almost all leading ladies of the 90s have worked with Govinda (I am not sure about Madhuri or Sridevi)- he was very popular with Karishma, Raveena, Twinkle, Urmila even Aishwarya has worked with him. His career started its downward slide only in the early aughts because romcom movies became more popular.

Whether it was for love or for personal gain- that question I think only Rani can answer. We can only speculate. I feel she was very crazy about AB jr but did not meet Ab Sr and JB's approval (she does not have the best of reputation at least at that time it was frowned upon) and hence that relationship didnt go anywhere. She settled for security with Adi.

Well I saw on some YouTube video that Govinda’s career went down the drain when Khans started to rule Bollywood. If Rani needed a sugar daddy for help, then she could’ve use some other famous actor.

Rani was living with Govinda for a decent amount of time, Govinda's wife had to threaten with suicide to get him back.

Such a shame for his wife. Why suicide for a cheating husband? Yeah, I heard about Govinda and Rani’s affair but Rani was quite talented to get work on her own. At the beginning of her career, she got to work with Khans which many actresses are not able to get that big opportunity. So I don’t think she needed Govinda’s help for her career. The affair probably happened for some other reason.

I think she is 41. I remember very clearly in a few of her interviews with Kajol and SRK, Kajol herself has mentioned that she wasn't close to Rani because Rani was 4 years younger than her. Rani even mentioned that she was always close to Tanisha (Kajols sister) because they are the same age (41). Why would Kajol and Tanisha change their age to fit Rani's narrative especially because Kajol and Tanisha are industry kids?! I think its harder to hide your age when you are connected to the industry in comparison to someome like Katrina for example.

If you don't know the facts, it's okay, don't pretend, don't make things up, don't say "I saw a YouTube comment so it must be true" - just don't do that.

Now, for some sense. Just because someone is a film producer, it does not mean they have an endless supply of cash for the rest of their lives. Producers like any other working person can lose money. They can go bankrupt. I thought this was obvious. Why are people debating this? I wish there was an adults section on this forum, because lately it feels like 7 year olds are posting here.

It is very well known that the Mukherjee's were in a very bad financial situation from the 80s. Rani has even talked about this on Simi Garewal's show as well as in numerous other interviews.

It is also well known that she was involved with Govinda. Govinda was a big star at the time. You don't need to defend their actions. It is what it is. What's the need to say "she would have an affair with a bigger star if she wanted to have a sugar daddy" - that's not even the question here. For whatever reasons, she did in fact have an affair with Govinda. There is zero point trying to theorise her motives. But as it happens, she also did do many films with Govinda - this also co-incided with her career-dip pre-Saathiya.

There was a tonne of other misinformed codswallop here, but I can't remember what it was and I'm already bored typing all this so bye for now.

It doesn't matter in the larger scheme of things, but I do want to share something a beauty queen who won her title when I was in 1st yr of college. She supposedly was almost ready to graduate. Few years later, Wiki page said she was born in same year as me. Current WIki page says she is younger than me😆
