Is being a good actor an excuse for nepotism?

Do you think nepotism can/should be defended if the actor is talented. Is that fair? People will complain about an actor getting work because of being so and so's child almost constantly. But then support nepotism when the actor actually is good, they may say stuff like he or she is a product of nepotism but at least he/she is talented.

Isnt this is a double standard?

Well until and unless all outsiders are super talented, nothing is wrong in defending a talented star kid. That is my view.

Let us be honest, most of the "so called outsiders" have connections and advantages like "modeling background, paegant winners and rich family". On top of that really good outsiders actors barely get big movies, it is always either a popular guy or a good looking girl who get chances, and than get hailed as messiah of BW for their mediocre performances.

Double standard how? What do u want to judge an actor based on if not his/her acting capabilities ?

I find this nepotism debate so stupid. Nepotism sirf chance deta hai...industry me sustain kr paoge ya nhi woh khud ki talent and mehnat pe he depend krta hai...aajkal people start hating on anyone who is related to Bollywood actor or if they have any connection. Agar nepotism really work krta to athiya and all jaise log bhi aaj famous hote...this nepotism thing sometime just brings unnecessary hate.

Not my personal views. Just trying to start a thread.

It could be a double standard in that you support nepotism only when it applies to talented people. Rejecting the practice of nepotism means you reject it for anyone no matter how talented they are. Nepotism is an unfair practice in all industries. But I guess im asking is if you would support it on a case by case basis.

But doesn't that defeats the purpose? People opposed nepotism because they thought undeserving candidates got undue advantage due to it. It was in support of those deserving candidates that deserved the chance more. If now we start rejecting the deserving candidates too just because they have connections within the industry how is that fair? On a personal note, I don't really care about nepotism in film industry so it doesn't matter either way.
