Where was this reaction for Arjun Reddy?

Arjun Reddy got amazing reviews when it was released and no one talked about misogynistic element of the movie and other troublesome aspects of the movie. If the original movie had gotten the reaction it deserved, we wouldn’t have seen Kabir Singh at all or we could have had a bit relaxed version

Nobody watches regional films that’s why there was no reaction lol that’s why everyone on this forum wants to pretend to be some kind of intellectual who watches regional films

There was. But it was swept away with the usual... feminists are the spawn of devil argument. Vijay and his fans mocked and bullied people who spoke against it. But I do think that the reaction was not this much. Plus it’s a Telugu movie. It will not have the reach of a Hindi movie.

See this movie resonates with most men in India. That’s why it’s such a big hit. Otherwise has any of Shahids movies had such an impact?

Everyone wants to be able to go lord over someone and have that woman allow it. And not have to have the inconvenience of stalking her into submission. That guy in that obnoxious video about reviews against KS said that this was reality and not like a movie and that’s why people liked it and that’s true.

Telugu movies and the industry have always had terrible and problematic movies and that’s why perhaps the reaction was not that extreme. Even now the kind of language being used by Telugu guys to criticise women who have spoken against the directors interview is appalling. And of course the word feminist is being used once again as the worst kind of human.

The mind set of regular normal Indian men ( as opposed to more travelled, educated and having the opportunity to interact with a more diverse population) is to show a clip from a forthcoming movie in Telugu- in which Rakul is shown as being more forward than the hero and saying stuff like till now I showed u only the U certificate side of me. Now I will show u the A certificate part of me- as equally terrible to whatever Vanga told. Saying why aren’t feminists commenting on something so terrible?

So for such people... and you have to admit that the stupendous success of the movie indicates a large chunk of Indians do think like that and not just South Indians as you are trying to portray.....it’s the right kind of movie

Very few people are seeing it for the acting or the movie making quality.... for many people it’s a ‘realistic’ movie which depicts what actually happens and so they are able to relate to it and appreciate it.

Its true tho kinda. Especially since feminists mostly fail to show their sons how to treat women (ultimate irony) 🤣

Am glad people are at least making their opinions heard. At least people are able to look at the content and call it as inappropriate, that's good. There are so many regressive movies in the 80's and most people just accepted it at face value. Of course no one was violent to the extreme as Kabir Singh (hadn't watched Arjun Reddy till date and used to think it was a story of a man who learned to fight addictions and become a better man).

Few months ago, I watched some Jeetendra Sridevi movie and found it so annoying and regressive. But that was the genre of those times, sometimes I wonder if Ekta Kapoor watched her dad's old movies and replicated those stories into her tv storylines of saas, bahu and drama. In the 80's, husbands could abuse, slap, torture the wives, have multiple wives, go to jail but the ladies would keep crying and still act as doormats....identical to her tele serials.

You will notice enough criticisms against Rowdy Rathore, Rambo Rajkumar movies too, but it takes time for people to register the change in mindset. Personally for me, after cases like Nirbhaya and Preeti Rathi, it's hard to see violence, stalking and abuse glorified on the silver screen.

If women are failing to teach their sons ... why aren't men taking on the responsibility?!
