Why does SRK keep picking bad scripts?

An actor of his calibre should be doing challenging roles and films not brainless masala entertainers like Zero, Dilwale, Chennai Express etc. Seems like a complete waste of his talent. The last SRK movie I truly liked was Swades.

Rakesh Sharma biopic has the potential to be a good film but SRK rejected it. In the past, he's rejected many good films like 3 Idiots, Lagaan, Munna Bhai etc.

Ranveer and Aamir are excellent examples of how you should utilise your talent by doing diverse roles and films. They always keep challenging themselves and want to showcase their versatility. They also take risks instead of just playing safe.

Why isn't SRK doing the same? Is it because he only cares about making money and doesn't care about the quality of his films? It seems like he's afraid of taking any kind of risk.

In a career spanning almost 30 years, he's only done a handful of good films. Not a very good number.

1) Because he concentrates on getting a good director, not a good script.

2) he puts haath failao step everywhere, possibly tweaks scripts as well.

Script hi agar pakode jaise hua to steven spielberg bhi bacha nahi payega.

There are a lot of things Shah can be blamed for in the past few years... Not taking risks is most definitely not one of them..

As for why picking bad scripts, because he can afford to do so.. He can opt for work for people he feels comfortable in, investing in what he feels should go ahead without having to worry about the top position.. Not saying he does not want to be on the top.. Of course he does.. But he wants other things with that too.. In my opinion of course

Munna Bhai he did not reject because of script but because of his shoulder injury

3I, I think he did not want to work with VVC.. actually he does not want to work with VVC still

He has team to spoil the good scripts and choose scripts for him.

Also he position his friends above scripts.

It's just sad to see him succumb to mediocre to bad films lately.

Also he shouldn't bring his intelligence to film sets, and he should allow people to correct him. He's intelligent no doubt but he's not right always.

Whenever he tried something different it didn't work commercially except chakh de. Hence he don't try challenging stuff usually.

Thattt in itself is the problem.

WHENEVER he tries to do something different he still puts his OLD unwanted romance, weird story twists, melodrama in it.

So basically he takes a challenging script and then puts annoying melodrama, illogical twists and romance to ruin it.

He should stop bringing dramatic romance in every script.

And find a good script first. Not start by finding directors who had a hit recently.

He deals with directors he likes, not with the ones who had the last hit

Farah he worked with after the abysmal TMK.. Could he have been hoping for a repeat of OSO and MNH? Sure but she did not have a hit recently

Maneesh he signed with when he was relatively new and not really a bankeable and sought after director

Rahul D was not coming from a hit..

Rohit and Anand are exceptions..

SRK doesn't pick scripts. He picks up directors. Even Chennai Express, he picked Rohit because he had a big hit. that time it worked. More often than not, it doesn't.

Stop romancing girls half your age, reinvent yourself, invest in story and script instead of VFX and go back to the basics which made you a star (remember Darr, Baazigar?)
