I think this is what sets Hirani apart from other directors. He is not self indulgent and won't show much of something just for the sake of it unless it adds to the storyline. I've seen many people commenting on youtube videos of extended songs that why wasn't this a part of the film, etc but a film should have things that adds to the storyline instead of being unnecessary scenes without any purpose. And Hirani is one of those rarest directors who knows that, mainly because he is as brilliant an editor as he is a filmmaker.

The song released on youtube has many parts where Ranbir is overdoing the drug addict thing and is turning it into a comical song. Hence he skipped those parts and added only the ones worth retaining in the film version so that it looks part psychedelic and part funny.

Regarding Badhiya, I feel they shot Sonam's parts only for rhe promotional track because in the film she changes into the Badhiya costume once she gets to know Sanju is coming home. And I don't think she would do a dance number after Sanju's visit to her house knowing what he did with her dad. 😆 I guess similar thing was also done with Twist Kamariya in Bareily Ki Barfi. The promotional song had both Ayushmann and Kriti while in the film it was just Kriti.
