He was asked this question during a Twitter chat. It would have been very easy for him to ignore this had he really wanted to. I'm sure he didn't answer every single question he was asked during this chat. But like I said above, ignoring questions about his personal life is not something he wants to do. He wants to do the exact opposite.

And this is why I think Aloobir is real. RK is not an idiot and knows exactly what the general public thinks. It's why he was hesitant to speak about his previous relationships. I also believe he is trying to fix his image. He's been called a playboy from as far back as 2009. Now if this thing with Alia was just PR then he'd come out looking even worse than before. With his reputation it would have been easier to keep a relationship private until it got to the marriage stage. But he tried that with Kat and he still got labeled the playboy so I think he's trying a different approach this time. Didn't he say something about Ayan saying he needs to be more open? He is trying to connect with the audience on a personal level. That's why he did the twitter chat. And also that video with his dogs. If you go to one of the BW insta sites and scroll through pics you'll see pics of couples, families and kids. Connecting with the audience through your personal life is easier because it makes celebs more relatable.

The other option is that he just does not give a f*ck anymore and will do whatever it is to stay in the news 😆 But if that's the case then why try to connect with the audience?

Also I don't follow Rajeev Masand closely but is he the kind of guy who would participate in a PR stunt? I know he writes blinds but I thought his journalism was more reliable and he dedicated a couple paragraphs to the Aloobir relationship.

I still find this "soon hopefully" answer hilarious given what I believe his reputation be. There is also his own statement from last month when he said his relationship with Alia was too new and needed time to cook. I laugh and roll my eyes at his answer because it sounds like well planned sound bites just to grab headlines portraying him as a man in love.

Bottom line, he lacks sincerity and honesty in his answer IMO.

Tasbah, I definitely agree that Ranbir is trying to fix his image and also connect with the audience. The video with his dogs being a prime example. Ranbir's immediate goal is the make sure Sunju becomes a hit and connecting with the audience is part of that marketing/PR strategy. His long term goal is to counter balance all the negative buzz that Brahmstra accumulated in the past four years since its announcement. A big way to do that is present the main leads as a real life true love couple. I think Brahmstra becoming a hit is a much bigger deal to him than whatever damage an inevitable break up with Alia might cause. If he's a hit actor his damaged image won't matter. But if he's a flop actor (as he is now) a damaged image is an added burden.

What you said about a break up with Alia would damage his image even more, valid point. But then that break up can happen even if they are real so why be this open? Unless they've already decided on marriage, and it will actually happen soon. In which case then I'll go back to my theory of a few weeks ago when I believed they were real, that this relationship started long before the Bulgria schedule, and while she was still supposedly with Sid. In that case both their images could potentially go down the crapper as a couple who started by cheating.

His interview with Masand is the main reason I changed my mind from believing that they are real to believing they are fake now. When Masand asked him how Alia has influenced him he took a long pause and his answers were all about her as an actress. When Masand asked how being in love feels like he started to answer but then said its all kinds of love, a woman's love, man's love, best friend's love, parent's love. So basically he doesn't know Alia beyond her being an actress, and he doesn't realize that romantic love is its own separate emotion outside of all other kinds of love. I don't know how else to explain it, but it was bizarre.

Speaking of Masand, there is a reason some people call him Ranbir's mouthpiece. Not always but for the most part he seems to have a soft spot for star kids. But even among star kids Ranbir is his favorite. He's the one that started the rumor that Ranbir was the first choice for PK and Aamir stole the part from him, after PK broke all records. In reality Hirani had discussed PK with Aamir on the set of 3Idiots, but I digress. Also his long paragraph about Aloobir romance read like an absolute PR piece. I'm not saying he's part of the big PR plan, but he's not above publishing pieces because someone's PR asks him too. So Masand writing a paragraph on Aloobir doesn't give them any extra legitimacy at all.

^ I know that it looks very gimmicky but RK doesn't have social media so he has limited options and time to make that connection with the audience. I can see this being some long-term plan for Bramastra but I think the plan is even bigger. The new generation might never get the super stardom of the Khans but it doesn't mean they can't try, so I think he wants to build a fanbase that will be around in the very distant future. It will be easier if he joined social media. Even Aishwarya saw the importance of it eventually.
