Salman Khans Race 3 started well on Friday but now it's just galloping towards tremendous riches. The film didn't really receive great reviews or good word of mouth. Many of his fans found the film tad bit too much to digest. Plus, a better part of his audience was way from theatres on Friday because of pre-Eid festivities. So the first day wasn't as expected. But on day 2, the film proved why box office loves Salman Khan. It earned a whopping Rs 38.14 crore on Saturday and took the total to Rs 67.13 crore. That was enough to beat the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khans Jab Harry Met Sejal and Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos. It took Race 3 just two days to do so.
Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Harry Met Sejal released last year a week before Independence Day. It was the superstar's return to his romantic image after a while. There was a lot of hype surrounding it but bad direction and story ruined it completely at the box office. It was one of the biggest disappointments for his fans. The film in its entire runtime had earned Rs 62.50 crore. (Also read: Salman Khan's Race 3 registers the highest collection on Eid ever)
As for Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos, the film managed to release after years of delay. Not much was expected from the film anyway but the first trailer did make everyone interested. Anyone who saw the film liked it but the problem was not many did. That's why it could only earn Rs 53.38 crore at the box office.
Race 3's Sunday collections will be even bigger and then, we will tell you which other films it has left behind.
