How rich are the Boolanis? I thought it was Boolani who wanted to direct a NY based movie (Wasn't that a NY based DCH-esque movie... which I thought gave Rhea the idea to make VDW? I'm getting confused.) And Anil was gonna produce the film. Or was that vice versa?

I think John and Varuns filmography is miles better than Sonam, Kareena, Rhea. Substance over sex and glossy. Kudos to John, not even a film family but has been producing movies like Vicky Donor, madras Cafe and Parmanu.

But Karan and his sister are always partying with the Kapoors. I thought they were also some moneybags' kids.

It's a true victory. 🥳 I still remember how some members were dissing Sonam because she compared VDW's budget with Dishoom's.

Now she proved her detractors wrong by showing that an entertainer headlining women could be as successful as one staring leading men.
Bravo! 👏

Wow, that's amazing !
Congrats to the girls!
👏
So VDW is a hit , right?

John has done plenty shitty films and even shittier acting in them... And varun has some horrid films in his filmography (esp the 2with his dad).. Their filmography is a mixed bag just like the girls...

Yes it is. The team wasn't expecting such a good response toward the movie be it by critics or by the audience.
They won't be disappointed if the movie doesn't reach the 100cr mark because 77cr is way more than what they were expecting.

I think they broke even in the first weekend itself. Ekta said they didn't need to do much money to break even.

That's great!
And what a welcome change , to have a female cast win big at BO! ( I was away for a couple weeks, so I wasn't sure, I didn't follow news or anything much..)

I knew right from the first promo this movie would sell. So glad I was right. I'm glad people are open to watching all kinds of movies now. Don't like Sonam but I'm so glad her family made this movie!!
