That Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit were a hot couple in the 90s before the former was sentenced to imprisonment is something that we all know about. Theirs was a roaring affair and yet no one spoke about it officially. Hence, when the movie on Dutt's controversial life was announced, it was a given that a reference to the Dhak Dhak girl would be there.
Later, reports of the actress personally calling up Dutt and the director Rajkumar Hirani to not include her part in the movie, emerged. However, there was nothing official about it. Reports were rife that television actress Karishma Tanna is playing Madhuri's role in the movie. But nobody confirmed the same.
Last week, when the trailer of Sanju released, there was no reference to Madhuri evident. And now we hear that the makers of the film had included one fleeting reference to the gorgeous diva in the movie. But on her request, that has also been edited out in the final cut. A source in the know revealed some details about this.
" Hirani had shot one scene where Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt makes a call to this 90s actress just when he is arrested. But the call is received by the actress' mother who tells the actor that the lady doesn't want any association with him and that henceforth he shouldn't call her up. This was a fleeting reference to Madhuri Dixit. Dutt, when got arrested in 1993, was allowed to make a phone call by the then Police officer. Needless to say he had made it to Dixit, who disassociated herself from the man. This scene was retained in the film until the actress got to know. She again spoke to the director and insisted that no reference to her should be there in the Movie. That is when Hirani edited this scene in the final cut of the movie, clarifies our source.
Well, we wonder what more has been left out on the edit table!
