Mirza was too unrelatable! The rich girl poor boy thing is not going to work anymore! But Sairat did well- based on Romeo/Juliet- but caste was the main issue which is immediately relatable to many! If the story is relatable, it may work. What if Layla & Majnu have a solid relationship but then she gets married to someone else (some reason we can relate to these days!), Majnu becomes clinically depressed (depression is relatable)...then Layla dies due to some illness...Majnu being depressed commits suicide after her death. Something like that.
