Firstly be clear about what we are talking about. I am talking about in ring ability only. In ring quality Charlotte has proven she is better than Paige. talking about crowd reaction and promo works, Charlotte is one of the best pure heels in the rooster who regularly was getting heal reaction. Yes she is still far behind Alexa Bliss when it comes to mic work, but Paige was never a Heyman either.
Paige was pushed to moon, but never really took off. Breaking wellness policies and being an unprofessional.
Someone who can called for criticism for being pushed for favoritism reasons is Nikki Bella.
Not Charlotte. Yes being a Flair helped but she has proven herself as a worthy contender by regularly performing well in the ring and working the her heel character very well
, Paige's character work was hardly any revelation compared to Charlotte. Paige was more a wasted talent, unless she makes a world class come back. And buddy in ring stuff does matter in today 's world as kayfabe is dead. Hogan's time was different but even he needed big games like Andre matches, Savage matches, Iron Sheikh, St. Slaughter or Ultimate Warrior bout. Had Rock not had classic bouts against Stone Cold, Triple-H or Mike Foley, he would not have been the big player he became. John Cena had classic bouts over the years because of which he has become the man he is today. Character development is the most important of pro wrestling I agree but if you cannot sell the story in ring, than the wrestler will never grow. Paige sadly her own fault or WWE's booking never grew. She was hot, and hence still popular.
And buddy if you cannot get Daniel Bryan's technical skills than you are probably from the Vince McMahon school of thought. Call him overrated or whatnot, but the fact he still gets louder pop than almost every other wrestler present today shows how popular he is. Sadly his career was cut short(or its a WWE conspiracy). And obviously it is matter of POVs, as you belong to McMahon school of thought which gives more emphasis on looks, charisma and IT factor, while I belong to IWC school of thought which places in-ring story telling, character development and ability to work on the crowd.
In-ring ability & pure tehnical wrestling both aren't same. Like, people also have a confusion of HBK being a technical wrestler while he was mixture of high flyer & bit of technical. Dolhp also belongs to that list. The only two pure technical wrestlers who've made it big in WWE, they're Bret & Kurt. I love them too especially Bret he's one of all time favorites. (tho not fond of Kurt's finishing move, its pretty lame).
Paige never took off? Ehh? What? 😲 She was becoming more & more popular with each passing day. Infact that idiot ruined her career for leaving it for someone like Alberto Del Rio. She was on the verge to reach superstardom. She's probably the only female wrestler (after A.J. Lee) who could make some sort of big impact in the new lot & fans still love and miss her. She was really the next big thing.
Agree about Nikki Bella. Can't stand her or her twin sister. Overrated AF!
Disagree, Charlotte is nothing but a product of nepotism & she sucks IMO.
I think you misunderstood me completely. I never said in-ring performance doesn't matter. Ofcourse it does, I said that for technical wrestling.
Do you consider Shawn vs Taker in WM 25 which is arguably stated to be the greatest match ever in pro-wrestling history a pure technical wrestling match? If you do, then you're absolutely wrong.
Obviously why only Rock all the legendary superstars needed classic matches to get the status of a legend.so does the new lot but they're not getting such career defining classic matches that's why WWE isn't able to elevate them to superstardom. Not only classic matches tho pro-wrestling is about other important things as well such as iconic & unforgettable moments, making an ever lasting impact, legacy etc.
What I was trying to mean is that classic & 4/5 star matches aren't same. Those stars are mere ratings given by those pseudo intellectual wrestling journalists like Dave Meltzer etc who's terribly biased & has no credibility. Otherwise tell me, was there only two matches (HBK/Taker First ever HIAC, Cena vs Punk MITB '11) in the entire WWE history worth 5 stars? Obviously no. Heck he didn't even give 5 star to HBK/Shawn in WM 25. So, there goes his credibility.
Anyways, his opinions don't matter (atleast to me) & no Paige ain't popular even today not because of her looks its because fans genuinely loved her & watching her wrestling. If hotness was so important Kelly Kelly would've been one of the greatest ever since she's gotta be the most pretty female wrestler ever facewise, nor A.J would've been so beloved & still remembered even today by the fans if hotness was that important since she wasn't hot from any angle. If AJ makes a surprise return she'd get the biggest crowd reaction in the entire roster, heck even better than some of the male superstars. She has had made the biggest impact on female wrestling ever since Trish/Lita.
What made you conclude to judge me that I belong to Vince McMahon school of thought? just because I happen to not give a shit about that shitty, boring, unentertaining & annoying buffoon Bryan's so called technical wrestling? 😆 Well, he's a trash & his fans are the more deluded and annoying than Virat Kohli fangirls. 🤣 He was pushed to death too from '14/'15 as THE guy, but he failed as a draw, neither did he sell huge amount of merchandise, failed to make a crossover impact, Punk was getting much much bigger mainstream reception that that idiot Bryan, & let's not even talk about other yesteryear legends, he wasn't popular internationally, nobody knows him besides this generation's North America's wrestling fans & he's nothing in international countries. When he was being pushed to the moons PPV buyrates & ratings dropped drastically, he's one of the main reasons why fans started losing interest in Asian countries, cos he was so bland and uncharismatic to a whole different level. Also, its that "Yes" chant which is more over than the man itself who've invented this. Not saying he wasn't over with the crowd, he was super over but fans used to love chanting that annoying chant & still they do that. Also, one of the main reasons people loved him because he was heavily portrayed as the underdog, fans were getting frustrated seeing part-timers getting title shots & mainvent slots again and again and Punk had left already so which made him the most over face at that time, fans were behind him that's why they had to put him in the main event of WM XXX due to fans pressure. Anyways, thank god his career is over & he's retired. I don't have to tolerate that annoying loser, he used to annoy the hell outta me.
RVD, Jeff Hardy, Kane (masked & post masked until 2004) used to receive much bigger pops then Daniel Bryan. Pops don't prove anyone's popularity, or chanting Yes, Yes, Yes like an idiot means nothing. If pop was the ultimate criteria then Cena wouldn't have remained the face for almost over a decade despite of getting booed out of the arena, year after year even in his hometown. Well, he doesn't get Roman's level of heat reaction, but he's still hated by the fans Infact nobody does not even the heels get such heat from the fans like Roman gets, he's a rejected babyface.
Lastly, I care about all the things you mentioned so you're completely wrong!
