I don't know much about Varun's personal life, but read somewhere he and she went to school together and were dating long before he was an actor.

In that case, it makes complete sense. Because all these girls who are throwing themselves at him even if some maybe genuine, are all after Varun Dhawan, movie star.

This girl was there when he was still Varun Dhawan the person without the added fame, status that comes with being movie star. She was with him for him. At Varun's stage in life, it is very hard to find who is a hanger on and who is genuine. So the fact that he is with this girl still means he values her for who she is too and she him. Their relationship is not based on fame or status but is actually very solid. It will actually help Varun because he has someone he can always rely regardless of being a movie star. Tomorrow if everything goes and it can go away suddenly in BW, this girl will still be there and that is worth more than fame, movie star status or money. It says more about Varun as a person to me than any fame or status he has achieved.

Being the son of David Dhawan last I checked who is irrelevant now, heck even Govinda is now, will not bring in red carpet walks, paparazzi pictures, articles, interviews that is reserved for Varun Dhawan movie star. Hell, I follow BW, I did not know who Varun or Aloo were before SOTY. I certainly knew who David Dhawan and Mahesh Bhatt were, but Varun and Alia were no Aryan, Jhanvi or Navya Naveli who the media wrote about or people knew before they themselves became movie stars.. Not every starkid is known. Not even Sonam was known before launch.

Knowing what Varun wanted to do and actually getting there is different. Pretty much every starkid has a huge ego and wants to act, most flame out, not become successful.

Varun and Natasha maybe superficial, hell they could be with each other because she is wealthy and he is David Dhawans's son. But they were with each other before the individual fame for Varun. He does not have to be with a middle class girl for it to be genuine. Natasha to me is more genuine towards Varun than any girl throwing themselves at him because he is a movie star. .She may not need the money but she there before the fame and there is something genuine about that. And the fact that Varun does not trade her in like SSR, I see a stronger relationship than your average Bollypair. YMMV.
