Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Dalbir Kaur in
the movie Sarbjit won many hearts. She
nailed the character of a helpless sister
fighting against the system to bring back
her brother from the Pakistani jail. Sarbjit
had inadvertently crossed the border and
was taken into custody by the Pakistani
Rangers for alleged involvement in terror
activities.
Though the movie opened to a mixed
reaction, Aishwarya received huge
acclamation for her role from the audience.
Well, now her fans have yet another reason
to rejoice. The actor has won the best
actress award for Sarbjit at the International
Film Festival and Awards of Australia (IFFAA).
Sharing the news, movie critic Taran Adarsh
tweeted, "Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wins
best actress for Sarbjit at IFFAA, Australia...
Kudos to Omung Kumar, Bhushan
Kumar, Sandeep Singh, Vashu Bhagnani"

Helmed by Omung Kumar, Sarbjit is a biopic
drama based on the story of Sarbjit Singh,
an Indian national who was accorded
capital punishment by Pakistan's Supreme
Court on charges of spying. The movie also
starred Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadda and
Darshan Kumar.
Rai was also nominated for the Filmfare
awards in the Best Actress category for the
movie.
Besides Sarbjit, Aishwarya's was also seen
playing the role of Saba in Karan Johar's one
side love story Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also
starred Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma
in the lead roles. While Ranbir-Anushka did
receive some applause, it was Aishwarya's
sexy avatar in the movie that became the
talk of the town.
If rumours are to be believed, Aishwarya
might share screen space with hubby
Abhishek Bachchan for Anurag Kashyap's
next. However, no official confirmation has
been received on the same.

Neerja should have won this. 😕

I'm done with the undeserving likes of Alia and Aish grabbing Sonam's fair share of awards. 🤢

Who were other nominations?
If only Sarabjeet sent entry, Ash would have won it by default.
I have not heard of this award before.

what universal acclaim
if some one can bring the review thread back for sarbjeet..8/10 critics panned her performance

she was much better as saba in ADHM

sarbjeet had randeep as the best thing followed by richa chadda but these 2 got nothing..sad!

good! She did a fab job! I don't understand how this forum fan girls over over-dramatic tv actresses who overact for no reason at all, yet cannot digest someone being loud in a role of a sister who is absolutely shattered about her brother being kept away in a prison! Kudos!

that is some generalization

i don't think the entire forum fan girls over dramatic TV actresses

i don't but i did not like aish in sarbjeet..and that was not coz her character was loud. It is coz she failed to make.me feel the pain.

and not all TV actresses are over dramatic..just like not all movie actresses are subtle. Sakshi tanwar for example was so brilliant and subtle in Dangal and she is a TV actress

tv actresses from her generation were fab, I am talking about tv actresses now a days, drashti, sriti and sanaya are decent, even mouni saves herself with a good body and sexy moves, but the rest are all very bad! Sakshi Tanwar is an amazing actress! No doubt!

with the standard of tv shows the standard of people have decreased also on india forums, I have been here since the inception! I was part of the first forum of IF - Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin - such lovely and intelligent people there! The show was really good too! AT least the first 2 years! Those were the days!
