Bajirao Mastani is gonna complete a year of its release on 18th. Cant forget this time period last year.

On the other side was the much awaited Dilwale which Bajirao Mastani appeared as the underdog.
I know for the fact that most of SRk-KAJOL fans or the people who have grown up in 90's were although supporting Dilwale but from within were rooting for Bajirao-mastani and eager to watch it. Reason was SLB's awesome story telling and more importantly SRK-KAJOL chemistry which was being helmed by an action-comedy director not YRF or Dharma, plus moreover they are getting old, the cheesy romance wont suit their age .What they did in DDLJ and KKHH wont suit again in 2015.

Coming back to Bajirao-mastani, I am one of the big Sanjay leela bhansali fans. His every frame was a poetry, Last year this period was also about fan fights. The bajirao camp and its fans although were confident of its product but they knew Dilwale team was a big brand. The fear came true on the release date when Dilwale opened big numbers compared to Bajirao Mastani. Paid previews and critics knew dilwale was a shit but some still praised it. But one verdict and bhavishyavaani was also out that its BAJIRAO MASTANI whichh is gonna be the winning horse.

On the release date I went to the cinema theatre that morning early at around 8pm ,It was 18 december. 8:30 am show. The multiplex was 70% full. As the film started all audiences went ecstatic.

Even after a year i am watching the pinga dance . Dola re dola was more Hit than pinga but i will say pinga is very difficult. I heard many people say in last one year in school dance programs, college festivals, cultural programs , or other cultural programs that happens in our country, very few did pinga performance cause the dance is very difficult . But the dance shot by remo, sLB and the effort by Dips and priyanka was just too too good. Love watching deewani mastani, malhari, mohe rang do laal. Not always but watching those beautifuuly shot visuals is appealing even after a year. Even if you all watch Bajirao-mastani trailer even today it still looks refreshing.

WAtching the priyanka scenes are just awesome .The Gajanana sequence .Mindblowing

The basic point for me is generally we watch films and forget as we keep complaining how hindi cinema is just now time pass material... but after a long time i was hooked with a film for a year and even now i can watch it. Tanu weds manu is also good but scenes dont stay with you for long .But in case of Bajirao-mastani the scenes are still intact, the choreography the sets...evrything.

The christmas weekend last year brought smiles to all SLB fans as the film had left behind dilwale in indian territory..

This year its so quiet. Dangal looks good but i think we have seen such kind of topics in the form of Sultan, Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The srtuggle of an athlete. Just the stories are weaved differently.

Now waiting for PADMAVATI. i hope slb brings Priyanka for an item song. Want the hit trio- Ranveer-Priyanka-Deepika to be back like ram leela and bajirao-mastani.

Last year Christmas releases were crazy! On one side there was Rohit Shetty-SRK-Kajol-VD starrer Dilwale (which may have been inspired by DDLJ) and on the other side was SLB-RS-DP-PC's talented team of Bajirao Mastani
I wa rooting for BM since day 1, but pbviously was worried whether it would do well and recover his huge budget...the first RS movie I saw was DDD and I might be in minority but I acually LIKED the movie and felt RS was really a great actor. Plus I knew no one could play Bajirao other than him...and DP and PC are amazingly talented so I really don't need to elaborate! SLB according to me is one of the finest directors of Bollywood
But there was SRK-Kajol's jodi, Rohit Shetty being great with masala films and VD who hadn't had a single flop since his debut. Plus SLB had lost a clash previously with SRK (irony is that DP was also involved back then!)
The minute the teaser came out I knew BM would win it. The grandeur, the sets, the costumes and the casting...everything was working!
But when DW's trailer came out I was really disappointed since it did nothing to show how insane SRK and Kajol's chemistry is. And I am not an SRK fan, but I have loved some of his films
A day before the movie I booked FDFS tickets for BM at a theatre which was heavily promoting DW...and it scared me that what if BM would lose? Not that it mattered to me but u could see the hardwork and effort the team had put in and they def deserved success.
The D day...10 minutes into the movie and we were sold. Right from Bajirao being announced as the new Peshwa to the opening credits, I was completely involved in the movie. SLB had done it, I KNEW it. Such a gripping movie! Watching RS I was sure he was wacky and crazy and all that but on screen, he WAS Bajirao. For me, he is the Indian version of Johnny Depp- I can see him in films like JDepp has done.
Priyanka was fabulous too as Kashi, you could feel the pain.
DP, though many may disagree with me, did a fantabulous job. She underplayed her character, emoting thru her eyes, being the strong warrior princess that Mastani was.
Those 2-3 hours for me were magical, I laughed, I cried, I hooted when Bajirao danced on Malhari and was broken after watching the end
Few people I know who had gone for DW and who were SRK fans went balltastic after watching BM, they loved every bit of the film. And I was pretty sure that RS would win every award for his phenomenal performance.

I know this seems like an essay and all that but guys seriously, BM was the only movie that actually left a lasting impact on me. Everything was amazing, including the music. And lastly I wanna say SLB is truly a genius for believing in his baby and not getting intimidated by the starry team of Dilwale

Count me as one of those who was not impressed with Bajirao... The movie was beautiful no doubt, each frame was gorgeous and an artwork. But in terms of drama etc... Everything was overblown and one didn't get a sense of palace intrigue and all the other shenanigans ...instead it was everyone screaming or screeching improbable dialogues. The only saving grace was Priyanka. She bought subtlety, grace , intrigue, conniving etc into a movie which talked a big game but delivered none.

The only saving grace was Priyanka. Bajirao and Mastani were jokes. Peshwa Bajirao was acting OTT in the film and Baba Ranveer hamming in few scenes and talking like a tapori in some. He gave unintended comic relief to the film. 🤣
